This year was a difficult one, the year many families and communities, and the entire world lost many lives due to Coronavirus. The world economy has taken a different turn. There is hunger, disappointments, people are no longer happy. There are lots of insecurities. Our faith is in the lowest ebb. Many people are giving their back to God, not interest in spiritual matters. To who shall we go in these uncertainties of our life? At the begging of this season, let us take courage and hope from our first reading from Prophet (Isaiah (63: 16, 19; 64: 2-7.) The people of Israel have returned from exile in Babylon. Their hopes were great, but the results were less than spectacular. They realized that human achievements are tainted by sin and always lack the perfection we too often proclaim. There was a limitation as to what humans can achieve, hope, and build. Este año fue difícil, el año de muchas familias y comunidades, y el mundo entero perdió muchas vidas debido al Coronavirus. La economía mundial ha dado un giro diferente. Hay hambre, decepciones, la gente ya no es feliz. Hay muchas inseguridades. Nuestra fe está en su punto más bajo. November 29, 2020 (Continúación de la página 1) Incluso sus mejores intenciones y sus mayores obras los dejaron bus-cando la paz y la felicidad verdaderas y duraderas. En muchos casos, se volvieron temerosos de las obras de sus manos. Nosotros también en-frentamos lo mismo en nuestro tiempo. Estamos desesperados y asusta-dos. El mundo está en confusión y caos. ¿De dónde vendrá nuestra ayuda ?, ¿Quién puede salvarnos del mundo en ruinas ?, ¿Dónde podemos encontrar orden y armonía en nuestros corazones, familias y sociedad? Sin embargo, Dios no es indiferente a nuestras situaciones. Siempre hay muchas razones para tener esperanza. De esto se trata el Adviento. Esperando que las cosas vayan mejor con la colaboración de todos. Esta esperanza no proviene de nuevas hazañas en la tecnología y un PNB creciente. El afecto supremo de los corazones humanos requiere curación espiritual. El corazón humano debe volverse a Dios por la reconciliación que trae paz y aleja el miedo. “Oh Señor, tú eres nuestro padre; nosotros somos el barro y tú eres el alfarero; todos somos obra de tus manos ". Recordemos quiénes somos. Pidamos a Dios que actúe en nuestra vida, con nuestras colaboraciones y sometimiento a su voluntad. Nuestro evangelio de hoy de Marcos tiene un mensaje especial para un mundo somnoliento y a menudo satisfecho de sí mismo. “¡Esté siempre alerta! ¡Mantente despierto! Es muy fácil para nosotros distraernos y preocuparnos por las cosas que pasan, y perdernos el tiempo de la visitación de Dios o el pasar por nosotros. Con demasiada frecuencia buscamos todas las cosas correctas en los lugares equivocados. El Adviento es un tiempo para que enfoquemos nuestros ojos, agudicemos nuestros oídos y preparemos nuestro corazón para el Dios que viene en el tiempo señalado. Si nos ocupamos de muchas cosas, fácilmente podemos perder la única cosa que se requiere para nuestra salvación y felicidad. Parte de estar listo es el autoconocimiento de cuánto necesitamos del poder sanador y la gracia de Dios. La mayoría de las veces, usamos solo la temporada de Adviento para preparar regalos y remodelar nuestras casas, cambiar nuestros autos y traer muebles nuevos. A menudo olvidamos lo más esencial de nuestra vida. Olvidamos que el Adviento es la temporada para el único regalo que ninguno de nosotros merece pero que todos necesitamos; el don del Niño Jesús. Es tan fácil para nosotros estar ocupados y tener tan poco espacio en la posada de nuestro corazón para su nacimiento. Sin embargo, Dios quiere enviar a su Hijo a nuestros corazones como la máxima expresión de su amor por nosotros. Escribiendo a los Corintios, San Pablo captura el poder de este don. “Doy gracias continuamente a mi Dios por ustedes por los favores que les ha concedido en Cristo Jesús, en quien han sido ricamente dotados de todo don de palabra y conocimiento”. El verdadero gozo nos llena de un sentimiento de profundo asombro y aprecio por lo que Dios ha hecho por nosotros en Jesucristo. Es la temporada de Adviento donde nos preparamos para recibir estos dones y bendiciones en nuestras vidas. Mis queridos hermanos y hermanas, en esta primera semana que comenzamos la maravillosa temporada de Adviento, quiero hacerles saber que “Dios es fiel, él los mantendrá firmes mientras esperan a nuestro Señor Jesucristo”. Él nos mantendrá firmes; él nos hará fuertes y firmes. En este período de espera, especialmente, Él nos ayudará a hacer lo que nos pide. Y lo que Él nos pide es simplemente tener ESPERANZA y MANTENERSE DESPIERTO.
(Continued from page 1) Even their best intentions and greatest works left them still looking for true and enduring peace and happiness. In many instances, they became fearful of the works of their hands. We too face the same in our time. We are desperate and afraid. The world is in confusion and Chaos. Where shall our help come from? Who can save us from the messed-up world? Where can we get order and harmony in our hearts, families, and society? However, God is not indifferent to our situations. There is always plenty of reason for us to have hope. This is what Advent is all about. Hoping that things are going to be better with the collaboration of everyone. This hope is not coming from further exploits in technology and a rising GNP. The ultimate affection of human hearts requires spiritual healing. The human heart must turn to God for the reconciliation that brings peace and drives fear away. “O Lord, you are our father; we are the clay and you are the potter; we are all work of your hands.” Let us remember who we are. Let us ask God to act in our lives, with our collaborations and submission to his will. Our gospel today from the Mark has a special message for a sleepy and often self-satisfied world. “Be constantly on watch! Stay awake! It is so easy for us to be distracted and preoccupied with things that pass, and to miss the time of God’s visitation or passing through us. Too often we are looking for all the right things in all the wrong places. Advent is a time for us to focus our eyes, perk up our ears, and ready our hearts for the God who comes at the appointed time. If we are off busying ourselves with many things, we can easily miss the one thing that is required for our salvation and happiness. Part of being ready is the self-knowledge of just how much we are in need of God’s healing power and grace. Most often, we use only to use the Advent season in preparing gifts and re-modeling our houses, changing our cars, and bringing new furniture. We often forget the most essentials in our lives. We forget that Advent is the season for the one gift that none of us deserves but all of us need; the gift of Child Jesus. It is so easy for us to busy ourselves and have so little room in the inn of our hearts for his birth. Yet God wants to send his Son into our hearts as the ultimate expression of his love for us. Writing to the Corinthians, St. Paul captures the power of this gift. “I continually thank my God for you because of the favors he has bestowed on you in Christ Jesus, in whom you have been richly endowed with every gift of speech and knowledge.” True joy fills us with a sense of deep awe and appreciation for what God has done for us in Jesus Christ. It is the season of Advent where we prepare ourselves in order to receive these gifts and blessings in our lives. My dear brothers and sisters, in this first week we begin the wonderful season of Advent, I want to let you know that “God is faithful, he will keep you steady while you are waiting for our Lord Jesus Christ.” He will keep us steady; he will make us strong and firm. In this period of waiting, especially, He will help us to do what He asks from us. And what He asks from us is simply have HOPE and STAY AWAKE.

Las coronas se mostrarán alrededor de las paredes interiores de la Iglesia durante la Temporada Navideña. Los árboles de Navidad en la plaza estarán decorados con un lazo y luces SOLAMENTE para mantener una apariencia uniforme agradable. Si desea comprar una corona o un árbol, complete el formulario en el vestíbulo, déjelo en la Oficina Parroquial o colóquelo en la canasta de recolección de fin de semana antes del 7 de Diciembre de 2020. ¡Gracias!
The Christmas Season is a special time of year that we remember our Family and Friends living or deceased. In a special way we can honor our loved ones by donating a Christmas Tree or Christmas Wreath. The Wreaths will be displayed around the interior walls of the Church during the Christmas Season. The Christmas Trees on the plaza will be decorated with a bow and lights ONLY to maintain a pleasing uniform appearance. If you wish to purchase a wreath or tree, please complete the form in the vestibule, drop it off in the Parish Office or place it in the weekend collection basket by December 7, 2020. Thank you!
Social Action Committee News - Christmas
The Christmas Season is quickly approaching and we would like to inform you of our changes due to the Covid-19. We will not be putting up the Giving Tree. We must follow the rule of going contactless. However, we are still giving out Christmas to our clients. In keeping with our tradition, we still will make it a warm season. Please help us with this endeavor by placing unwrapped gloves, scarves, hats, and warm socks in the decorated box located in the back of the church. Handmade items are wonderful too. We will begin collecting these items on December 5th. As always, thank you for your support and kindness. May God bless you and keep you safe always.

La temporada navideña se acerca rápidamente y nos gustaría informarle de nuestros cambios debido al Covid-19. No estaremos levantando el árbol de las donaciones. Debemos seguir la regla de no tener contacto. Sin embargo, todavía estamos regalando la Navidad a nuestros feligreses. De acuerdo con nuestra tradición, todavía haremos que sea una temporada cálida. Ayúdenos con este esfuerzo colocando guantes bufandas, sombreros y calcetines abrigados en la caja decorada ubicada en la parte trasera de la iglesia. Los artículos hechos a mano también son maravillosos. Comenzaremos a recolectar estos artículos el 5 de Diciembre. Como siempre, gracias por su apoyo y amabilidad.
