Campus Development from Outside to Inside, from Future to Present

University of Helsinki and Aalto University invite you to a conference held by the NordicUniversity Administration Cooperation (NUAS) in Helsinki and Espoo on 24.-27.8.2014. Theconference is organized by the NUAS group Facilities and Environment together with theNordic Sustainable Campus Network.

The main goal of the conference is to get insight to campus development in different scalesthe first day is dedicated to urban campus development and future, the second day is moreabout inside learning environment solutions and the future.

We intend to have presentations and interactionthe audience will be able to join larger orsmaller groups for discussion. The main language used in the conference is English, but thewill be some presentations in Scandinavian language as well. We will try to do our best intaking steps towards being a minimum CO2emission Conference.

Our conference opens on Sunday afternoon in the Natural History Museum of Helsinki. We

get a view of the interesting exhibition and enjoy an evening meal.

On Monday we will stay in the University of Helsinki in the City Campus. After the conferencsessions Urban Planning in Nordic Campuses and Insights into the Futurewe will have topportunity to look around in some of the university buildings: the learning environment of thFaculty of Education, the old Main building and other empire buildings from the 19

thcentury

the new main library Kaisaetc.

On Tuesday we will go to Otaniemi, the main campus of the Aalto University. The programcontinues in the famous university building designed by Alvar Aalto. We will hear about thenew university concept and the different aspects of the campus in change. We will also get

some tastings from the huge research program that is on the agenda in the Finnish UniversProperties. Well also hear how Nordic universities can contribute to a global treaty like Rio+

And we of course will make a walking tour around the Otaniemi campus.

On Wednesday there will be an optional third day. On this day you will be able to participatedifferent excursions showing several of the university campuses of the University of Helsinkand the Aalto University.
