Fred received his degree in medicine from the St Petersburg State Medical University and his early training was in Russia and Israel. He came to London to work with the Harris Birthright Centre for Fetal Medicine at Kings College Hospital, and is currently a specialist in prenatal diagnostics and fetal medicine at UCLH. He has over 20 years of experience scanning fetuses and works with the ISUOG (International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology) as an ambassador and director of training programmes internationally. He is particularly interested in the training and support of doctors in other countries to help them to protect and preserve the health of mothers and unborn babies. Fred runs many ultrasound and fetal medicine courses in the UK (ISUOG supported courses), Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Peru, Portugal, Russia (ISUOG supported courses), Turkey and Ukraine, where many doctors have no opportunity to participate in expensive international congresses and courses. He also is Director of the Ultrasound Network Ltd in London, a provider of ultrasound training courses, 3D & 4D ultrasound training, fetal echocardiography training and hands on training in ultrasound. Simona is a consultant in Fetal Medicine at the Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and Head of Nuada Fetal Ultrasound. She graduated with Honours from the School of Medicine and Surgery in Italy. She then came to London and worked for five years as a clinical research fellow under the supervision of Professor Kypros Nicolaides at Kings College Hospital. During this time Simona has been involved in the teaching of new scanning techniques and the principles and practice of first and second trimester antenatal screening for aneuploidy both locally and internationally, as an invited speaker. Simona defended with Honours her PhD Thesis in Fetal Medicine, and has a dual specialist accreditation in both Obstetrics and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Her main academic interest is screening for chromosomal abnormalities with over 40 peer-reviewed publications.
