Children can be especially vulnerable to cyber bullying when online. “Cyber-bullying involves the use of information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behaviour by an individual or group, that is intended to harm others". ‘An Active school is fun and cool’

St. Fiachra’s JS awarded second Active School Flag

We were very proud to raise our second Active School Flag on Friday 21st June . The Active School Flag (ASF) is awarded to schools that strive to achieve and maintain a physically educated and physically active school community and is awarded every four years. Many thanks to teacher Mrs Niamh Kearins and her committee for leading this process. Special thanks to committee members from second class : Rm 18 - Alexia & Atharva, Rm 19 - Jack & Marianne, Rm 20 - Daniel & Thea, Rm 21 - Cian & Lucy, Rm 22– Rían & Sophie, Prefab 12 - Giselle & Colm.

BOM news On June 10th last, the BOM sanctioned the plans for the development of a new school library. Works on the library will commence over the summer. Funds raised from our sponsored walk will go towards this new project. We look forward to keeping you informed of the developments of this project

We welcomed our incoming 2019 Junior Infant pupils and their parents to the school on Wednesday 12h June .The incoming infants and their parents visited their junior infant classroom, met with their new teacher and enjoyed some infant activities on the day.

We are encouraging all our children to continue to read as much as they can over the summer months and are pleased to inform you that Dublin City Libraries are offering children the chance to take part in their Reading Adventure 31st 2019. Dublin City Libraries are offering incentives like wristbands, notebooks, pencil cases as well as the chance to win a Smythlibrary. Each child that finishes the Summer Stars Reading Challenge will receive a medal and a certificate at a special event at the end of the summer. This year Dublin City library will also have a summer programme of free events for families and children, details can be found at http://www.dublincitylibraries.ie

Summer Camp St. Fiachra’s JS Summer Camp will take place from 1st—5th and 8th—12th July. This camp is organised by teacher Ms McCorry and runs from 9am—1.30pm .

Camp costs €60 with a €10 discount for siblings.

Trócaire On behalf of Trócaire and the communities they work with we would like to thank you for your generosity. The sum of €2188 was collected from our school . This money will make a positive and lasting difference to the

lives of so many families and communities who are living in

poverty overseas .
