NTC Faith and Reason Essay Competition

The Faith & Reason Essay Contest is open to all incoming freshmen applicants of the BA

in Catholic Studies at Newman Theological College.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS 1st: $24,000 - Full Tuition for all 3 years

2nd: $6,000 - Awarded over 2 Years 3rd: $3,000 - Awarded over 1 Year (3 Awards of $3,000 Available)

Essay Question: Drawing from the Catechism of the Catholic Church or from a papal

document, write an essay on "Why do Catholics Need both Faith and Reason to Live

out the Gospel in the midst of Canada's Secular Culture?"

Complete Your College Application:

All students participating in the Faith & Reason Essay Scholarship Contest must also

complete and submit a full NTC Admissions Application. A complete application must

include two letters of recommendation; high school transcripts; and a completed online

Complete Your Faith and Reason Essay:

Essays should be five to six pages typed, double-spaced, with 12-point Times New

Roman font and 1-inch margins on all sides. Essays must include a cover sheet listing

the applicant’s name, address, telephone number, e-mail, high school graduation date,

and age. Also, in two or three paragraphs, please identify your financial need and

explain how this scholarship will help you financially.

Submit Your Essay:

All completed Faith & Reason Essays and College applications must be submitted or

postmarked by Canada Day, July 1, 2021. Completed essays can be e-mailed to

admissions@newman.edu or mailed to the College at the following address:
