Objectives of SEMFOP?
• Protection and rehabilitation of forest cover• Biodiversity conservation, national park
development, tourism, research• Strengthening of WMPA staff capacity and of local
authorities• Livelihood improvement, poverty reduction and
sustainable development• Prudent management and effective use of funds
SEMFOP Main Operational Area Nam Theun 2 Watershed Area:
•Nakai-Nam Theun NBCA (3,439 km2)
•Nam Theun Corridor (513 km2 )
•Southern Corridor (36 km2)Total Area of about 4000 km2 (around 9 time of the reservoir area at full supply level)
