NSW Health Nursing and Midwifery Showcase 2019
Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer’s Welcome Welcome to the launch of the annual NSW Health Nursing and Midwifery Showcase.
Building on the wonderful 10 years of Essentials of Care Showcases, we are thrilled to
provide a platform to bring together a broader range of projects and research that
nurses and midwives are leading right across NSW Health. The theme of this year’s
showcase is People-Purpose-Passion and the presentations focus on the contribution
of nurses and midwives in driving change to support effective workplace and leadership
cultures, safe and quality practice, and compassionate care.
The 2019 Showcase is a credit to NSW Health’s talented and committed nursing and midwifery professionals.
The organising team from the Nursing and Midwifery Office (NaMO) has engaged a stellar line up of presenters,
all home-grown and working within NSW Health. The team received a huge number of high quality abstract submissions,
and we have scheduled rapid-fire sessions during the conference program on day one to maximise the opportunity
to learn of many of these important projects. We also have the chance for a deeper look into interesting initiatives
including how we can improve the patients’ experiences and our own during the Workshop sessions on day two of
the Showcase.
A growing body of evidence shows that patients’ experience of care has a direct correlation to their health outcomes,
and that the experience of staff affects the performance and efficiency of the entire health system. It’s wonderful to
see nurses and midwives driving and supporting initiatives to sustainably deliver the outcomes that matter to patients
and each other by improving how we organise and provide care. The impact of these projects and research pieces is
undeniable, and something to be proud of.
It is always a pleasure to come together with colleagues from across the state, to learn, to share and to connect. I
hope you too will be inspired with new perspectives, new ideas and new connections. I warmly welcome you to the
Showcase and I look forward to talking with you.
Jacqui Cross
