RG Releases (I)• NSN is going to harmonise the GSM SW releases further
• Looking backwards the goal is harmonization of function and features
where out of historical reasons difference between the BSS and the BRportfolio still exists. Looking forward the features are being madeavailable in a synchronous mode for BS2xx as well as for Flexi BTS.
• Former release names BSSx and BRx will be replaced by RG (ReleaseGSM)
• As the common name RG suggests, future RG releases will support allGSM network elements provided by NSN.

• …
• RG releases provide functions and features the same way as i.e. BR orBSS releases would have done – but all within one (umbrella) release – plus further innovation:
– Enhancement of the Abis interface at the BS2xx base station to allow BS2xxbase stations not only to be connected to the eBSC but alternatively also tothe new Flexi BSC family
– Flexi BSC offers feature enhancements and integrates the BS2xx and FlexiBTS within one network
– Flexi Multiradio paves the way for 2G/3G/LTE migration
• No changes in supported products, nor in communicated ramp down
• New features will be continued to be developed according to roadmapsbased on HW capabilities
• Based on their network evolution strategy customers can choose the mostappropriate solution from the RG release
