VISIT NEW SMYRNA BEACH H.S. AT www.NSBHIGH.com For the parents, staff, students, and community of New Smyrna Beach High School Volume 16/Issue 3 NSBHS Mission Statement: Working together with parents, school personnel and community members, New Smyrna Beach High School students will graduate with the knowledge, skills and values necessary to be positive contributors to society. November 2017 Dear Cuda Families, We have completed our first quarter of the 2017-2018 school year. Our students are participating in engaging and rigorous lessons in the classrooms, going on field studies, joining clubs and organizations, and playing a variety of sports. Our campus is bustling with activities every day. Please feel free to join us at our School Advisory Council meetings, held the first Monday of the month at 6:00 in the school Media Center. You can email Deborah Croak [email protected].fl.us or Sue Hopkins, [email protected].fl.us Co- SAC Chairs for more information. Parents, students are expected to attend school regularly. Students who are attending school sporadically will fall further and further behind, thereby jeopardizing their ability to graduate on time. Nightly Connect Ed messages go home to notify you that your child has missed one or more periods of school. Please monitor those messages and call a school counselor if you need assistance. Every day our teachers offer lunch-time office hours for the first thirty minutes. Please encourage your student to attend office hours if they need more classroom help. Obviously, students who are sick need to be at home. If there are long term health issues, please make an appointment to speak with a school counselor. We are looking forward to a successful school year. Sincerely, Karen Chenoweth Congratulations to John Scrivano, English Honors teacher for being selected the New Smyrna Beach High School Teacher of the Year!
