36. 1557 July 8 COPY WILL of Dr. Geoffrey Glyn. 15 monetary bequests totalling £144 11s. 8d., £20 to each of his sisters who survive him; a year's wages and 20s. to Thomas ap Rowland and all his servants at the time of his death. Other bequests comprise: his grey gelding, his second saddle and bridle, his 'lydaye' and a year's wages to Owen Glyn; his cloak, boots and spurs to Sir Richard Rowland; his wood knife and cross­bow to his uncle John ap Rhys, and his best ring with the greatest turquoise in it to Mistress Grace; his best saddle and bridle, the ring with a death's head enamelled on to . Dr. Ellis;his bay gelding to the Bishop of Elyt and his grey colt and his standing gilt cup to the Bishop of Rochester. 56. post 1579 March 13 LETTER: Rowland Thomas [Dean of Bangor] to Elys Abelys at [Ludlow], In reply to the recipients inquiries about Dr. Geoffrey Glyn, and the arrears of rent, the writer states that Dr. Glyn was a bastard being the reputed son of Sir John Glynne, parson of Heneglwys. Concerning the arrears of rent the writer states that he is enclosing a letter written by Beyrch himself, in which he admits defaul t of payment.

57. 1611 July 31 LETTER: Edward Bates to [Henry Rowlands] Bishop of Bangor. He and Mr. Henry Rowlands, goldsmith went to see Mr. Johnes at Lincolns Inn, and the writer gave him his deed for the houses called the alms­houses in pa. St. George, Southwark, des­iring him to make over a conveyance to the Dean and Chapter of Bangor Cathedral. But Mr. Johnesfmade a speach concerning mortmayne' Mr. Dean did not come to London during Trinity Term as he had pro­mised, and Mr. Johnes left soon after the end of term. The writer hopes that the business will be completed upon his return.

LETTER: J[ohn] Williams, [Clerk of Works], Penlan, Llandegai to Mr. Henry Lewis, Belmont, Bangor, with d e t a i l s of the i n d u s t r i a l enterprise of Mr. Worthington of Llwynon. He had a lease f o r conveying s l a t e s along Lord Penrhyn's tramway from the quarry to the quay at Abercegin whence they were shipped i n h i s v e s s e l s to Liverpool and other p l a c e s . He had a large number of horses stabled at F e l i n i s a f and held a farm c a l l e d T a l y b r a i c h at Nant y Benglog. He also had a china m i l l at Penlan and an ochre m i l l above Coed y Pare. Mrs. Kneeshaw of Penmaenmawr i s a descendant of h i s . He l e f t the neighbourhood i n the 1820*s.
