William Carmer came from Erie, New York and settled in the Atlas area of Genesee County in 1844. It is not certain when he built his Greek Revival farmhouse. Two rectangular masses, one small single-story section and a larger one-and-one-half-story section, are fitted together at a corner to form this structure's plan. This unusual composition suggests two building stages. Probably built between 1840 and 1860, this two-story Greek Revival farmhouse at 5556 Flushing Road exhibits a rectangular floorplan and simple massing. Its facade, five bays in width, displays symmetrically placed openings and a wide frieze below a cornice with returns. The home's central door, with its paneled pilasters and entablature, is the most distinguishing feature.

The vernacular Greek Revival farmhouse at 1339 Cununings is unique in its tri-part massing. The circa 1840-1860 structure consists of a one-and-one­half-story rectangular mass with a one-story salt box addition attached at the back and a hip roofed one-story addition attached to the front facade. The front addition displays corner pilasters, a recessed porch supported by turned uprights, and, within the porch, a simple entrance door. All three components feature wide friezes; two exhibit cornices with returns.
