USSR RAIL LINE SEARCH FOR ICBM ACTIVITY

ON MISSION 1 4

This report presents the results of a search

for ICBM activity along rail lines in the USSR

on

K YHOL photography from Mission 1004

 February 1964). Seven previous reports gave

the results of earlier rail searches from KEY-

I IOLE

 

l August 1960)through

 December 196 3 ) and explained the standards

used

had graphics supplements consisting of overlays

keyed to World Aeronautical Charts WACs)

which showed the rail lines searched with

negative results and indicated the location of all

IC BM laun ch complexes identified to date. The

applicable K YHOL

mission and pass number

on which the rail lines were covered were

indicated on the overlays.

A total of 52 WAC overlays were required

to indicate the information derived from a search

of

K YHOL

Mission 1004, and are included in

the Graphics Supplement to this report.* In

accordance with established criteria, 24,363

nautical miles of Soviet rail lines were searched

for ICBM activity on

K YHOL

Mission 1004

with negative results.

*Copies of the Graphics Supplement have been forwarded to

tho CIA requester and to the TALENT Control Officers of

Army, Navy, Air Force, DIA, and NSA. Further reproduc-

tion and dissemination of these overlays to subordinate

commands will he the responsibility of these agencies.
