NOVENA PRAYERS
O God our Father, we thank you for your care of each one of
us. Thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, to share in our weak
human nature. He suffered as we do, and He is gone before us to
prepare a place for us in Heaven where we hope to be with You
forever. He promised to be with us everyday, and to give us all
we ask for in His Name.
Father, in the name of Jesus we ask you:- To give hope to those who have lost hope in God, and
who simply don’t know what to believe. Let them hope again.- To give hope to the sick and to all who cannot live their
lives as they would like to. May they receive hope and healing.- To give hope to parents and teachers who are entrusted
with the care of the young. May they never lose heart even when their best efforts
meet with failure.- To give hope to all who have been hurt, abused and let
down by our Church. May we be blessed with forgiveness and guidance
from God’s Holy Spirit.- To give hope to sinners. Bring them through repentance to a new way of
looking at things.- To give hope to those who have been affected by
Covid-19 Pandemic.- May they know God’s consolation and comfort in
their time of distress.- To give hope to the bereaved who are face to face with
death. Let them entrust their loved ones to Your care.- Your special intention for the Novena.- Fill us all with a joyful hope.- Our Lady of Hope pray for us.
Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be in honour of St. Gabriel.
NOVENA OF HOPE
The Novena of Hope is nine
consecutive days of prayer. This
Novena is for the whole family and for
the whole community. It will deepen
our faith and give us hope for the
future. We pray for guidance in these
diffi cult times.
The Passionists have always
encouraged devotion to Our Lady of
Hope, ever since the time of our Founder, St. Paul of the Cross.
He insisted that a picture of Our Lady of Hope should hang in
every Passionist’s room. Saint Charles of Mount Argus had a
deep devotion to Our Lady of Hope. The Passionist Monastery
near his birthplace in Holland is called Maria Hoop - Our Lady
of Hope - Retreat.
St. Gabriel was born at Assisi on
March 1st, 1838. His name then was
Francis Possenti and he was a normal
young man, interested in a good time
and fond of dancing. His devotion to
Mary led him to join the Passionists,
where he was given the name Gabriel.
He lived for a mere fi ve years in the
Passionists - for four of those he was
constantly ill. He died in 1862, while
still a student. He was beatifi ed by Pope Pius the tenth on May
31st, 1908, and was canonised on May 3rd, 1920. The Graan has
been dedicated to him since our foundation in 1909.
