Whereas…

Let it be resolved, that the University of Southern California will join the IIE’s Syria Consortium for Higher Education in Crisis and will commit to offer specific spaces and funding to Syrian refugee students and scholars, by no later than the end of the 2015-2016 Academic Year,

Be it further resolved, that the University of Southern California Office of the Provost will issue a public statement detailing the specific spaces and financial assistance that it will provide to Syrian refugee students and scholars, by no later than the end of the 2015-2016 Academic Year.

We have been notified by our advisor and the Programs Manager that Student Affairs is eyeing our funds once again with the intention of taking these funds unless we do not immediately engage in a plan for their use.

Instead of this board and senate working with the carryover from the president before last, we have to work with the carryover amounts from all boards.

The total amount is $682,971.95 (would generate interest of $30,733.73 per year)

Social Committee Update

First off, we hope you've been enjoying the tailgates this semester! Participation has almost doubled for each tailgate compared to our first year in 2014 and we look forward to continuing the tailgates for many years to come. 

We will be hosting a happy hour at Library Bar this Friday 11/20/2015 from 6pm-9pm. Free appetizers and food will be provided and there will be extended happy hour prices for all USC grad students. Feel free to bring any significant others and enjoy your Friday night by making new friends! The address is:  630 W 6th St #116A, Los Angeles, CA 90017

We are also providing free coffee and snacks in TCC 224 during Finals week! We know it is a stressful time for grad students and we want to make sure everyone is well caffeinated and energized for their big exams and papers!

Toy Drive

The Belmont High School Wellness Center Holiday Wellness Fair will provide medical screenings and education to families and children and will end by providing all attending families with a community meal and all children with a toy. USC GSG is challenging YOUR graduate school to donate more toys than (insert all other graduate schools you are trying to out-donate)! The school that donates the most toys will receive a FREE In-N-Out truck.

The donation competition will run Monday, November 9 - Friday, December 4.

There will be a box in the GSG Office on both the UPC & HSC where you can drop off toys and register your donation with a GSG representative. Should there be no one available at the time of drop-off, please email to [email protected]. Here are the designated locations and times in which you can donate at each campus:
