Shoeboxes are continuing to be filled for
“Operation Christmas Child”. Boxes need to be at the church no
later than November 12th.
Prepare to show God ’s love and
make Christmas merry for neighbors in need.
Second, we focus on the task before us. Our task is to be obedient to Jesus as He builds His church. He may not build it as we would build it. He is the Master Planner, the great architect, designer. His plan is to use broken people, you and me, to tell the lost how to have a relationship with God.
Third, the way that we tell the lost how to find their way to an encounter with God is to Show God’s love and Tell His story. In short, don’t be sidetracked by the devil’s distractions. Pray without ceasing. Focus on the task before us, and be passionate about Showing God’s love and Telling His story.
Finally mark your calendars for December 1st as we cut the ribbon that marks our new beginning. Mark December 2nd for the Christmas parade when we announce our new name to the community of Lincoln. And, then invite family and friends to our first worship service as First Street Community Church on December 3rd.
As my challenge for this time, I challenge you to read the entire Bible through before December 31, 2018. Not December 31 2017, 2018. That gives you 13 months. Can you do it? Will you do it?
Pastor Mike
From the desk of Pastor Mike
As we approach December 1st, many things are coming at us at light speed. We are desperately trying to prepare for our first Sunday under our new name of First Street Community Church. It has taken twenty-eight months of prayer and hard work by each of us to reach this point. As was said last month God has been at work providing the financial resources that are needed to update our facilities and prepare for God’s blessings.
God spoke through the prophet Isaiah and said to His people, “Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities.”
Essentially God is saying to His people and by extension to His church that we will receive what we prepare for. We are enlarging the space of our tents so that God can pour out a blessing on His church. In the same way that Nehemiah was hindered by Sanballat when he set out to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, we must be on our guard against the enemy who would prevent us from focusing on the task before us.
How do we do that? First, we pray diligently for God’s protection and leadership. Pray for God’s protection and leadership. Pray for His wisdom as we find our way. Pray for one another because the opposer always works from within to attack the God’s people.
