Objectives Central ideas that articulate the City’s commitment to achieving the Vision
Goals A goal is a statement that describes in general terms a desiredfuture condition or “end” state. A goal serves as a general direction-setter.
Policies A policy is a statement that guides a specific course of actionfor decision-makers to use to achieve a desired goal.
Actions An action, procedure, program, or technique that carries out General Plan policy.

The Vision Statement should be…inspirational and set the tone for the General Plan’s goals, policies, and actions.

[Option 1] Rohnert Park is built on community and family. In 2040, Rohnert Park is recognized as a safe, welcoming, and vibrant place to live, work, and visit. Residents and communities celebrate the city’s economic and cultural diversity.
{Option 2] In 2040, Rohnert Park will have matured into a unique, uplifting city, with accessible neighborhoods and active, multi-modal transit amenities. The economy is thriving, supported by fiscal responsibility. Rohnert Park is well-known throughout the region for its destination location in the heart of the wine and beer country.

Establish a 20-year Urban Growth Boundary;
Keep the city's small-town feel; Provide for slow, managed, and
predictable growth; Increase housing affordability and diversity; Establish better cross-town connections; Maintain or increase open space ratios
within the City; Encourage local jobs and maintain the
jobs/housing balance; Build and maintain infrastructure in
anticipation of growth; Integrate land use planning with SSU
expansion plans and establish better connections with the University;
Uphold or improve current levels of city services;
Encourage socioeconomic diversity; Ensure legal adequacy and address
external jurisdictional issues, including coordination with the Sonoma County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO), Sonoma County, and Rohnert Park's neighbors;
Increase pedestrian and bike access; Provide a framework for design standards
that reflect these objectives; and Create options for the city's edges. Allow
for soft boundaries and scenic corridors.
