team will need to communicate
important information to our families.
We have multiple means for ongoing
communication between the school
and our families:
School Webite:

Thorncliffe Thunder:
A weekly update sent by e-mail
directly to families
As an eco-school, we strongly reflect on the
impact of our actions on our environment.
We will conduct most of our communica-

means. On rare occasions, print
communication may come home in a hard
copy. Families are strongly urged to follow
the school on our school website in order

Joke of the week…
Q: What is a snowman’s favourite breakfast?
A: Frosted Flakes!
Dressing For The Weather
With the return of cooler temperatures, we
want to remind our families of the importance
of dressing for the weather. Our students spend
all their recesses outside and it is important that
our students have the appropriate clothing for
the outdoor weather conditions. Please ensure that students
have hats, mittens or gloves, warm jackets, and boots for the
snow. If you need assistance with any of these items, don’t
hesitate to come to the main office.

Nut Safe School We are a safe school. Some of our students
and staff have severe peanut and nut
allergies. Even the smell of nuts and other
foods can trigger a serious reaction for
these students and staff.
Please DO NOT send peanut butter or nut
products to school. This also applies to
peanut butter imitation products, and
Nutella.
What is Anaphylaxis?
Anaphylaxis is a serious, acute, allergic
reaction that may cause death. It occurs
when an allergic person is exposed to their
particular allergen (a substance capable of
causing an allergic reaction). When the
allergen enters the body it triggers the
release of chemicals that can lead to life-
threatening symptoms.
The severity of an allergic reaction, as well
as the symptoms, can vary from person to
person and from one episode to the next in
the same person
In order to make Thorncliffe Park a nut safe
school, we need the understanding,
cooperation and commitment of every-
one in our community.
