International Womens Day

• The United Nations General Assembly has appointed November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

• It is to raise awareness that women around the world are subject to violence such as domestic violence, rape, and other forms of violence;

• The aim is to end the violence against women.

• In 1981, on this day India held its first one day international (ODI) at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad.

• In 2001, Advanced Cell Technology Inc. based in Massachusetts got a breakthrough in using the embryo for stem cells to treat diseases.
