President’s Letter Another month has gone by and the virus is still linger-ing around. I know that some residents are upset that the clubhouse has been closed for a long time and the Board and management understand the frustration. However, the Board and management have had to make the hard deci-sion to follow the advice of legal counsel and the insurance company. Those that have been protesting and writing bad reviews on Google are not helping, they are hurting the entire community. We are hoping that the clubhouse will be open in some way in November. All other outside activities have been available for many months for the residents to enjoy. As most of you know the CO-OP is taking over the activities in the park once they start up again. This is to insure that everything is done legally and the correct insurances are acquired. The same activities will still go on and the people that worked the activities can still do so if they want. If there are any residents that would like to sign up for committees to put on the activities, feel free to email the office or stop in and talk to the manager. This transition has been a little painful for some residents but the CO-OP Board has a duty to protect the investment of the owners, the CO-OP members.

One of the issues lately has been the enforcement of the rules. Some residents say they don’t need rules and they don’t want the manager to ride around writing violations. We have made a change so that residents can’t say that the manager is singling them out for violations. We are having the management company Del Cor send someone over twice a week to ride through the park and write violations. If residents are following the rules, then they have nothing to worry about. We must have rules and enforcement. That is what keeps Plantation Village looking beautiful and making the residents feel proud of their community. Another issue lately is how the decision making goes as far as running the park. The park manager is instructed by the entire Board of Directors on what to do when it comes to the major decisions and how they want the park run. It is also the entire Board of Directors that makes the decision as to who is or isn’t the manager of the park. No one person can make that decision. During these times when a few residents have been protesting it has been very hard on everyone including the manager. She has remained strong and professional through it all and I and the rest of the Board support and applaud her. We as a community will come out the other side of these trying times stronger and closer I am sure.

Frank FieldsCO-OP President

From the Editor Through the combined efforts of a few of us, we are going to continue doing the newsletter. It would be so wonderful if you would give us some con-tributions to the news. Be it your summer stay wherever it was, or a trip you thought was a dream vacation, or just a stay at home fun time with relatives and friends. We want to hear about it!!! I’ll be knocking on doors otherwise like the census bureau searching for news! How about a special memory of a time with Grandma & Grandpa? I know it’s in there in your archives. Shake those webs and tell me your stories. I am anxious to hear all about them.

BARBARA DEARING Well, we are two thirds through the year 2020, and it will be a year that many of us won’t forget. Face masks, social dis-tancing, quarantine, not able to spend time with grandkids, and the list just goes on and on. We all have had to comply with the abnormalities and hopefully, the year 2021 will somewhat get us back to some normalcy. Have you ever counted how many things you put on in the morning? In the long list of things you put on each morning, the one thing you should always try to put on is Love. Love is more than a feeling- it’s an attitude. An attitude that chooses to be patient even when it’s hard, to celebrate what is good, to help, to see the good in others, to not insist on being right, and to not keep a record of wrongs. Love forgives, believes and hopes! So tomorrow morning as you “put on” all the things, put on love. Lastly, as your patriotic duty, VOTE!!!

BUCK FOSTER I was asked about my summer. I had to go up to Ohio during the pandemic. I went at the end of June and came back the beginning of September. I had to go alone and leave Bill & Buttons here because of the virus. The reason I had to go is my renters for the past 20 years were moving out. So off I went and what a mess I found when I got there. But I hired a contractor to remodel the whole place, all new paint, new flooring, and a new bathroom. I called a Realtor. She came and put a price on it and I was hoping for the best. I told her I wasn’t going to stay all summer. But she said give it a few days and let’s see what happens. Unbelievably, six hours later, it was sold for the right price- cash too. So I used the same contractor, and with the extra money I made on the sale, I redid our condo. Now we have a new looking condo. That is why I had to stay the summer. To end this story, I have so many friends in Ohio. My best friend Gee, I have known her for 45 years. We went out one night. Everyone was making toasts to each other. Gee stood up and made a toast to me. “Buck has been through so much in his life. But with his faith, he has always come out on top.” She also said, “I wish I had the faith he has, and could take it like he has. He really believes in right or wrong in his faith.” So the next day I called her and thanked her for what she said. I told her that was just the thing to say to me. I needed to hear that. So, when our condo was done I headed back to Florida and here we are today.

A Life Lesson A young couple moves into a new neighborhood. The next morning while they are eating breakfast, The young woman sees her neighbor hanging the wash outside. “That laundry is not very clean”, she said. “She doesn’t know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap.” Her husband looked on, but remained silent. Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry, the young woman would make the same comments. About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband: “Look, she has learned how to wash correctly... I wonder who taught her this.” The husband said, “I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows.” And so it is with life. What we see when watching others depends on the purity of the window through which we look.

If I Had My Life to Live OverBy Erma Bombeck -- written after discovery

of her terminal cancer I would have talked less and listened more. I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained and the sofa faded. I would have eaten the popcorn in the “GOOD” living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace. I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth. I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed. I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage. I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains. I would have cried and laughed less while watching tele-vision and more while watching life. I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pre-tending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren’t there for the day. I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn’t show soil or was guaranteed to last a lifetime. Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I’d have cherished every moment realizing that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle. When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, “Later, now go get washed up for dinner.” There would have been more “I love you’s” ... more “I’m sorry’s” ... but most-ly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute ... look at it and really see it ... live it. And never give it back.
