NOVEMBER 2019 VOL 84 NUMBER 9 CO-PRESIDENT'S CORNER JOHN & CAROL BALDO What a fabulous Lutefisk dinner! Marian reports that we served 470 meals, which must be an all time record. We are pretty sure that the article about Stein Fjell that appeared in the Loveland Reporter Herald helped boost our numbers. The dinner itself is the culmination of many weeks of effort and planning. It was really great to see how we all pulled together to make it a success. From the happy comments we got from the attendees it was clear that we had put on a very satisfying event for all. We are deeply grateful to everyone who volunteered. We should direct a special thanks to the Erdals for their great effort in ensuring that loose ends (things that tend to fall into cracks and get forgotten) didn’t happen. We have noticed that our Lutefisk dinner is a major cultural event for many families with Scandinavian heritage and that they make up an important group of repeat attendees. Of special note is the Nelson family who always make a large group reservation. This year, their group swelled into the forties! Talk about supporting our effort and Stein Fjell lodge. We hope to see you all at our November 16th meeting. We will be serving pizza to recognize all the work that went in to putting on the Lutefisk Dinner. We will also have our Silent Auction to benefit the Sons of Norway Foundation scholarship programs. LUTEFISK DINNER 2019

Wow!! What a wonderful crowd!! We served 470 people in 2 settings and the atmosphere was joyous!

Our attendance was uplifted by the wonderful front page article in the Loveland- Reporter Herald, titled," Group brings Norwegian Culture to No Co"- a telephone interview with the Baldosand Erdals.

So many of our members worked on this dinner and we thank you all. We'd also like to thank the families of many members who pitched in to make the success it was.

We especially thank the families of John Everson, Neil Johnson, Terry and Vicki Johnson, JoAnn Kison, Midge Parkos, Maria Reichel, Rod Skaflen, Karen Skonning, and Lyn Warrick and if I forgot any, we thank you all.

As we look forward to a wonderful year, we know that we can be proud of Stein Fjell Lodge for a great dinner and cultural experience, we have provided to our community.

Norwegian words:John has been experimenting with Duolingo this summer. We’d like to encourage everyone to try this as a different approach to acquiring some language skills. You can download the free app, or simply go to Duolingo.com in your browser. Keep careful notes of new words as they are introduced and, in just a few minutes a day, you will start building a vocabulary and developing a sense of the grammar rules.

A letter from the Editor:

As the past few years have been painful in loss for me personally I am wanting to send my note early on of what I am thankful for. I, as always, am very thankful for my family. Next I want to extend my letter to include how very thankful I am to be a member of Stein Fjell Lodge. I have made and continue to make several friends whom I cherish am very thankful for. With that in mind, when you celebrate Thanksgiving this year, please take a moment to celebrate each other. You are each a wonderful gift, not to be taken for granted.
