Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are 25% of our way through the school year. Much work is
being done to educate and prepare our students for being col-
lege and career-ready. In order to maintain this success and
momentum, we need your continued support. The connection
between home and school is essential and the key ingredient to
ensuring our students do well.
Parent-Teacher Conference are just around the corner and this
is a great time to speak with your child's teacher(s) to discuss
matters concerning your child's academic and behavioral stand-
ing. If you have not scheduled a time to meet with your child's teacher(s),
please contact him/her by calling the school at (419) 671-4600. Additional-
ly, as we continue to move forward this year, I want to encourage more
parents/guardians to participate in PTO and other volunteering opportuni-
ties. There are some great events coming up and parent/family nights
which could benefit all.
In closing, if you have any questions and/or concerns, please do not hesi-
tate to contact me. I may not always be available to speak to you immedi-
ately; however, I will do my best to return your phone call at my earliest
convenience.
Educationally Yours,
Dr. Michael Carr, Principal

The Dental Sealant Program Grades Grades 2 & 6
Did you know that Dental Sealants can reduce cavities in teeth up to 80% in children?
This is a wonderful program that we have coming to Glenwood in November. If you have
not already signed a consent form for you 2nd or 6th grader, please do. The consent is
attached to this newsletter, and please return ASAP.
TLCHD Mobile School Based Eye Care Program Coming SOON!
Each year Glenwood is fortunate to be one of the schools chosen to host this vision
program again. An entire Vision Clinic with an Optometrist and an Optician needed, they
will bring them right to the school, and fix them or replace them if needed. They also have
a clinic Friday afternoons at the TLCHD, as well. The clinic would like to see all 4th graders,
this year. If your student has seen them before, or you think your child may be having vi-
sion problems, please fill out the consent form. All grades can be seen. Also, if your stu-
dent has been seen by them at a different school, they should continue on getting services
at Glenwood. The program is FREE TO YOU, but Insurance will be billed.
Medical Releases/Doctors Notes
If your child has been seen by a Dr/Specialist, Emergency Dept, etc., PLEASE bring
those reports to school. In order to help better care for your child, we need current medi-
cal info on diagnosis, treatment, and any restrictions; such as not able to play sports, etc.
Since P.E. is a graded class, students unable to participate need a written note of some
type by a Doctor. We also need Medical Releases, or written info from Dr. stating they are
OK to be in school, or OK to participate in P.E., etc. Also if your student has missed school
for a medical visit, that absence will be excused if you bring, (or have Dr. FAX) school an ex-
cuse. If your child will require medications, event over- the- counter meds, TPS requires a
signed Med Authorization Form from your Md.

Uniform Donation-
Glenwood has a small uniform closet for children in need. Children are able to borrow a uniform if they
have an accident at school. We are currently in need of both girls and boys uniform pants. If your chil-
dren have grown out of their pants and they are still in good condition without rips or stains, please
consider donating them to Glenwood.
Winter is Coming-
Glenwood has received many donations of new hats, mittens, and scarves. If your child needs a
hat, gloves, or a scarf, please fill out the form below. Please remind your students to take good
care of these new items. We don't have enough to give out replacements if they get lost. Thank
you!

Each year generous businesses, families, and churches from within the community contact Glenwood
to see how they can help our families in need at Christmas. If your family is in need of Christmas assis-
tance this year, and is not receiving assistance through other organizations like the Salvation Army or
