Tuesday we will have a review of multiplication and we will have a multiplication test Wednesday. Thursday and Friday will be an introduction to division. We will have a speed test on Thursday and homework will be due Friday. Reading: In Reading this week, we will be studying poetry. We will be discussing figurative language such as similes, metaphors, hyperbole, alliteration, personification and onomatopoeia. The children will explore the use of figurative language through song lyrics as well as hands-on centers that we will rotate through. Please be sure your child is going on learn2earn.org to log their reading (or getting a paper reading log) Writing: In Writing, we will be talking about elaborative detail and how it is important to describe what your character/setting/object looks and acts like so that the reader can get a strong visual while they are reading. We will also be studying transition words in grammar Spelling: Astros will be on Sort 5 Spelling Words, Rockets are on Sort 10, and Texans are on Sort 32. OWL Spelling homework is due each Friday. Science: This week in Science we will be finishing up moon phases and moving into soil. We will be talking about the types of soil and which types retain the most water.
