Finding God in the Next Pew Two men, barely acquainted with each other, prayed for help in the same church one October day. Don Elliot asked God for help in finding a kidney donor for his daughter. Charles Mercurio asked the Lord to use him in some way that would give purpose to his life. The two men played in the church’s volunteer musical group, yet neither knew of the other’s needs before that day. Mercurio offered one of his own healthy kidneys to Elliots ailing daughter. There were doubts. Previous offers had evaporated when the donor learned how serious the surgery was. Mercurio took his fears to his wife and to the Lord. With God’s strength, the two men and their families walked into New York Presbyterian Hospital some months later and, literally, answered each other’s prayers.
Whose prayers can you help God answer today? The Christophers
