Greetings and Salutations Oh great members of the CA2S Chapter. Well, we managed to do a bunch of stuff again. "Jed" am I having fun. Also, we got the chapter vest thing going with some really nice exam-ples found by Lynda and Cliff Handly. Just to Reaffirm what's hap-

pening, the chapter is going to purchase the vest. The member must purchase the "patches." If you have a blue vest and like it, by all means please enjoy continuing to wear it. The new ones will conform to the black and gold which has become the new GWRRA standard. Did I mention they are Black and sexy? Anyhow, By the next chapter meeting we should have the real samples so we can sign up to order them. Try and make the next Chapter meeting so you can order. On an even lighter note, the turnout for events and rides has been great. Lets share this fun with any new members we can conjure up. William J Carr the Third Esq. or Uncle Jim Boob or Just plain Jim.

Golden State Gems As usual, this October was full of rides as the year winds down. I wasn’t able to get to as many of your events as I wanted to, but I hope everyone had a great month. I did get to Chapter CA1Z’s annual 8-ball run, even though I was in the car due to

rain. Their venue was very nice and the turn out was really pretty good considering the weather. I also traveled to Beatty Nevada for Chapter NVA’s Jackass ride in October. I know they are not in our District, but they have always given our local chapter their full sup-port, so we try to pay the favor back by attending their ride. This year they have already pre-registered over 50 people for CA1F’s fun run. Since Beatty is close to Death Valley, I got the chance to tour Scotty’s Castle for the first time and it was quite impressive. Some of the Redwood decorations were hand carved on site by imported Italian craftsmen. It’s kind of the ‘Hearst Castle’ of the desert. Just another example of the diversity you find in the state of California. There are only a few more chapter events this year, including CA1F’s Halloween fun run and CA1N’s Toys For Tots ride. All in all it has been another fun year in the Queendom. I hope you all agree. Remember that the Holidays will soon be upon us. Please be care-ful out there, especially around the malls. You know the shoppers will be thinking more about the bargains they will find rather than looking out for Motorcycles. As Rick always says, ride like you are invisible and everybody else is an idiot. I think this time of year it makes even more sense. Also remember to watch out for kids on their new bicycles after Christmas. You never know where they will appear and the last thing you want to do is hit a child.

I will probably be spending some time with my family in Phoenix in the next couple of months, so you may not see much of me. That doesn’t mean I don’t care about each and every one of you. You are all our big extended family and we are proud to count a great many of you as friends. Speaking of family, when people ask me about our group, I have an analogy that I would like to share. Of course, most people immedi-ately ask ‘Do you ride a Harley?’ when you say you ride a motorcy-cle. I tell them no and that we are a family oriented motorcycle group that focuses on education, safety and having good clean fun. I tell them that the Harley type of events may have fliers that men-tion tattoos on site, a beer garden and a wet t-shirt contest. Our events, on the other hand, might have fliers that mention the ice cream social, safety seminars light show parade and skills games. That pretty much tells them in a nutshell how we differ from some of the other groups. Until we meet again: Ride safe, live each day to its fullest and don’t look back. Joyce and Rick Elmore, California District Directors
