Head Coach David Fizdale David Fizdale was named the 29th head coach in New York Knickerbockers franchise
history on May 7, 2018.
Fizdale, 44, led the Memphis Grizzlies to a 50-51 (.495) regular season record as head
coach over the past two seasons (2016-17 and 2017-18), which included a trip to the
NBA Playoffs in 2017.
Prior to joining the Grizzlies for his first NBA head coaching assignment, Fizdale spent
the previous eight seasons (2008-09 thru 2015-16) with the Miami Heat as an
assistant coach, including the final two years as assistant head coach under Erik
Spoelstra. During his tenure in Miami, the Heat won back-to-back NBA Championships
in 2012 and 2013, and more Playoff games (70) and series (15) than any other NBA
team.
With a decade-and-a-half of NBA coaching experience, the Los Angeles native was an
assistant coach for one season in Golden State (2003-04) and for four seasons in
Atlanta (2004-05 thru 2007-08).
Fizdale began his coaching career in the college ranks, serving as an assistant coach at
his alma mater, the University of San Diego (1998-99 thru 2001-02) and at Fresno
State (2002-03). His first NBA job was as a member of the Heat’s video department in
1997-98.
Fizdale was a three-year starter at the University of San Diego and was named to the
All-West Coast Conference team as a senior in 1995-96 when he led the Conference in
assists with 7.0 APG.
Born on June 16, 1974 in Los Angeles, David earned a bachelor’s degree in
communications with a minor in sociology from San Diego in 1996.

KNICKS UPDATE:
The New York Knicks have acquired guard Dennis Smith Jr., center DeAndre
Jordan and two future first round draft picks from Dallas in exchange for
forward Kristaps Porzingis, and guards Tim Hardaway Jr., Trey Burke and
Courtney Lee.
Dennis Smith Jr.-6-3, 195-pounds, averaged 12.9 points, 4.3 assists and 3.0
rebounds over 28.4 minutes in 32 games (all starts) for Dallas this season.
The Fayetteville, NC-native earned All-Rookie second team honors after
averaging 15.2 points, 5.2 assists and 3.8 rebounds over 29.7 minutes in 69
games (all starts) last season. He ranked third among rookies in assists, fifth
among rookies in scoring, sixth in steals and seventh in minutes. His 106
three-pointers were the most by a Mavericks rookie in franchise history and
he became the fourth youngest player in NBA history to record a triple double
on Dec. 29, 2017. He was originally selected by Dallas with the ninth overall
pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.
DeAndre Jordan- 6-11, 265-pounds, averaged 11.0 points, 13.7 rebounds,
2.0 assists and 1.1 blocks over 31.1 minutes in 50 games (all starts) for
Dallas this season. He held career averages of 9.5 points on 67.1-percent
shooting with 10.8 rebounds and 1.7 blocks over 28.2 minutes in 800 games
(688 starts) over 11 seasons with LA Clippers and Dallas. The Bellaire, TX-
native represented the Western Conference in the 2017 NBA All-Star game.
He is a two-time All-NBA Defensive first team selection (2015, 2016), an All-
NBA first team selection in 2015-16 and two-time All-NBA third team
selection (2015 and 2017). He was originally selected by LA Clippers in the
second round (35th overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft.

Patrick Ewing’s 28 straight games. The streak of two blocks in 29
straight games was a Knicks rookie high.
• Robinson was the fourth rookie since 1973-74 (when blocks were
first recorded) to block a shot in 38 or more consecutive games.
Others are Alonzo Mourning, David Robinson and Manute Bol.
• ROBINSON was the only rookie younger than 20 years of age record
30 straight games on at least one block.
• Last NBA rookie before Robinson to have 38 straight games of at
least one block was Allonzo Mourning of the 1992-93 Charlotte

NEW YORK IN LONDON: New York played its third game in franchise history at
the O2 Arena in London on Jan. 17, 2019. The Knicks were defeated by the
Wizards, 101-100, to fall to 1-2 all-time in London. The Knicks led 100-99
with less than one second remaining when a Thomas Bryant's lay-up was
blocked by Allonzo Trier but called for goaltending. An Emmanuel Mudiay last

ALL-STAR WEEKEND IN CHARLOTTE: The NBA announced that Knicks rookie
forward Kevin Knox was selected to participate on the U.S. Team in the 2019
MTN DEW ICE Rising Stars during NBA All-Star 2019 in Charlotte on Friday.
Knox recorded 11 points on 5-9 shooting, two rebounds and one assists over
16 minutes.
Knox (6-9, 215), who has appeared in 46 games (28 starts) is averaging 12.5
points and 4.2 rebounds over 27.9 minutes this season. Among all NBA
rookies, he ranks fifth in minutes (27.9), is tied for fifth in three-pointers (76),

New York Knicks forward Kevin Knox has been named KIA NBA Eastern
Conference Rookie of the Month for December. Knox becomes the eighth
rookie in franchise history to be awarded Rookie of the Month honors.
Among Eastern Conference rookies, Knox led in scoring (17.1 ppg), three-
pointers (33), was second in rebounding (6.0 rpg), and led all rookies in
minutes (34.9 mpg) in the month of December. He appeared in all 14 games
(nine starts) for the Knicks during the month, scored in double figures in 12
games and recorded six games with 20 or more points. On December 9, Knox
joined LeBron James as just the second teenager in NBA history to record at
least 25 points and 15 rebounds in a game (vs. Charlotte). He is the first
Knicks rookie since Patrick Ewing to post at least 25 points and 15 rebounds
in a game. In December, the Tampa, FL-native became just the sixth Knicks
rookie ever to post three consecutive games of at least 20 points and five
rebounds and is the first since Patrick Ewing (1985-86).
