So a man dies, goes to Heaven, and

sees St. Peter. There are many clocks

surrounding him so the man asks,

“What are these clocks for?” St. Peter

replies, “These are lie clocks, they tick

once for every lie you tell. Here we

have Mother Teresa’s clock. She has

never lied so the clock has not moved.

Honest Abe has only lied twice in his

life, so it has only ticked twice.” The

man then asks, “So where is George

Bush’s clock?” St. Peter replies, “Oh,

that is in Jesus’ offi ce, he is using it as

a ceiling fan!”

Katy Mayert has been working since January on the creation of another new show to bring to the audiences of Vancouver Island. “Choosing the music is a treat,” says Katy. “What could be more wonderful than listening to hundreds of pieces of music of different genres, styles and eras. I am always amazed by how much music there is to choose from.” This year’s show promises to be as exciting as ever. From dancing to a set of dazzling disco hits, to jamming with the Creedence Clearwater Revival band, to a little country dancing with Dolly Parton. The sequins will be out again for a beautiful medley of Elton John songs and the energy will be high as highlights from West Side Story including ‘America’ are danced on the stage. The Grinch will

be seen stirring up the Christmas magic while the Toy Soldiers will tap their way into the story. Katy is excited to announce that the valley’s own Lindsay Sterk of Pantuso Dance has taken on the role of Choreographer for this year’s production. The audience can look forward to some exciting tap in the show this year. In June, they both attended the auditions in Vancouver and were thrilled to welcome on board another valley singer, Alexander Nicoll. For more information about the show, please visit www.yellowpointchristmasspectacular.ca The show will be at the Sid Williams Theatre in Courtenay Call 250.338.2430 to book your

STOP THE BARKING DOG CEASAR’S WAYRemember, barking is natural! It’s an impor-tant means of commu-nication for dogs. But sometimes problems can develop. As the pack leader, it’s your job to step in and con-trol excessive barking. Here are my 5 tips to help you stop nuisance barking for good.

1. Correct dog problem behavior and follow through.Tell your dog to stop barking using a look, a sound, or a physical correction. But don’t stop there. Your dog may pause and then go right back to what he was doing. His body relaxed, but his brain was still on alert. Be patient. Wait until your dog completely sub-mits before you go back to what you were doing.

2. Stay calm when trying to stop dog barking.Constant barking can be irritat-ing, but you won’t be able to cor-

rect the dog behavior problem if you are frustrated. Ani-

mals don’t follow unbal-anced leaders. In fact, your dog will mirror your energy. If you’re

frustrated, he will be, too! And barking is a great release for that frustrated energy. Take a moment to curb your own internal bark-ing first.

3. Stake your claim to stop the barking. Is your dog barking over and over again at the same object, person, situation, or place? Then you need to step up and claim that stimulus as your own. Use your body, your mind, and your calm-assertive energy to cre-ate an invisible wall that your dog is not al-lowed to cross. Do it with 100% dedication and focus, and the results may surprise you.
