Please check out the results in our newsletter. We are ecstatic for you. Our thanks again to the Scott whanau, Jude Fletcher and Tessa Hennessy for their awesome support of these events. Well in true Waihi East style, we have a new and exciting competition for our whanau. Next year we are holding the Waihi East School Giant Pumpkin Growing Competition! Each whanau will plant a seed at school that will be sent home in mid December. This plant will become yours to love and grow. A whanau BBQ and pumpkin weigh in will hap-pen on Thursday the 1st of April 2015 with cool prizes awarded. Join in the fun and get growing! Friday’s new breakfast at school is fruit pots which have been kindly donated by KidsCan. Children are able to come and have peaches or pears before school in the kai eating area. Our thanks to Mia who is organizing this break-fast. Mia and Brooke ran a milo day today and are looking forward to making milo more often next year. The TEAM EAST WHANAU Christmas party will be on Thursday the 4th of December from 5-7pm. This year our 2015 camp students with supporters will be cooking up a storm as a fundraiser for camp. Kai includes mussel fritters, American hot dogs, chop suey, sausages, milk drinks and a cake stall with sweet treats. Fabulous people will perform, our students will belt out a number or two and Phil and Robbie will be running a bike competition for waka groups. Sounds like an awesome night at school. Come along, have kai and be prepared to be entertained. Our bike track is amazing. Students are appreciating using the bikes and building on skills, fitness and friendship. A huge thank you to Shar from ENERGIZE for working with tamariki this week on bike skills. We appreciate learning more about safety and the skills required to be an active cyclist in Waihi. Lastly a quick reminder about the special magic show Donna is organizing for our school on the 17th of December at the Waihi RSA. Donna has heavily discounted this show with a cost of $2 per person. I made this basket for the school’s bikes.

I designed it by drawing it in my home-

work book. I then used my own bike to

check the size and shape of the basket. I

decided to make the basket out of wire

and wrapped flax around it. My daddy

helped me make it and I enjoyed spend-

ing time with him. I don’t normally get

the opportunity to spend time with him

because he is busy at work. It was fun!

By I’lah K, age 6, room

6.

I went on my bike and I crashed on the deck.

By Kale B, age 6, room 8.

The birdwoman has a pointy black face and she is a fat blue

bird. She has toenails as sharp as a blade and she is as tall as a

tree. The people don’t go to the forest because she is too ugly.

By Micah F. age 6, room 6

Yesterday, after morning tea, Room 6 went out to the netball

courts to open the bike track. We sat down on the chairs. Then

Miss Hargreaves said how the workers made the bike track.

After that, Shar showed Jake and Reese how to ride the new

bikes and to put on their helmets. Then

Jake and Reese rode on the bike track.

I saw the blossoms falling on the kids.

They looked like hundreds and thou-

sands of sprinkles.

After the ceremony had finished, Room

6 got to have macaroni cheese in the

classroom. It was a day I never forget.
