Common Noun (CN)• A common noun is a noun that is not normally
capitalized (exceptions can be if the word is at the beginning of a sentence or begins a piece of dialogue that begins in the middle of a sentence). They are usually less specific than proper nouns.

Proper Noun (PN)• Nouns that are capitalized, such as names, countries,
book titles, months…can you think of others?-times of year (Fall, Spring, etc.)-Specific building names-rand names (including sports teams and cars)-city names-War names (WWII) and specific battles in wars (Battle of
the Bulge)-There are more. You can find a more complete list in my
essay rubric under “Honors Independent Reading Project”
