NOTICE TO MARINERS
No. 3 – 23rd January 2018
SUBJECT: Dredging works near RAK Maritime City approaches
Ref: Chart 3174, 3404, Temporary Exclusion Zone Chartlet and NtM’s 5 of 2017
Mariners are advised that, Phase-II of dredging operations in connection with the Saqr Port berth extension project is scheduled to commence on 26 January near RAK Maritime City approaches for a duration of 02 weeks. Dredging operations are weather dependent and may be subject to delay.
Dredging operations will be conducted by the vessel CSHD Athena and will operate up to approximately 750m radius towards the western side of Saqr Port breakwater. During this period, the existing project exclusion zone will be extended temporarily towards western side (drawing attached) and marker buoys will be re-positioned in below mentioned co-ordinates for ease of identification.

A pipeline will extend from the existing breakwater and attach to the dredger. The dredger, pipe marker buoys and other marine units deployed shall be adequately lit during darkness. Marker buoys will be re-positioned to previous position (Project exclusion zone) on completion of dredging operation.
All Mariners advised to be aware of above said temporary exclusion zone while entering and leaving RAK Maritime City / Stevin Rock Harbour and are requested to exercise extreme caution while transiting in the vicinity:
1. Keep well clear of above temporary exclusion zone. 2. All Vessels/Crafts proceed with minimum speed and navigate with caution. 3. Maintain constant listening watch on VHF Channel 16 / 14 / 69. 4. All movements should be co-ordinated with Mina Saqr / RAK Maritime City Port Control.
