Epiphany is the day that the Church remembers the coming of the Wise Men (or Magi) who came from far distances in the east to wor- ship Jesus as recorded in the account of Matthew 2:1-12. The Church celebrates it on the twelfth day after Christmas. The word Epiphany actually means “to manifest or appear” or “to reveal” something that had once been hidden. The Wise Men in their visit, were guided by a star. This experience revealed to them who Jesus really is—true God and true King of all creation! Epiphany signifies the new truth being revealed by God through the Wise Men, that God in Jesus came for all peoples and is the Lord of all peoples, not just the Jewish people. God intends all the non Jewish peoples or Gentiles to become recipients too of His gift of salvation in and through Christ Jesus. Leave the past where it belongs! Our emotional health is closely tied to our physical health. Some people who are sad, depressed and angry, get sick eventually. We should not bear grudges against each other, instead we should forgive those who have wronged us. It is also best not to carry over to a new year emotional “baggages” of the past. Let us all welcome 2019 with happy hearts and wish each other a long life, good health, peace and prosperity. Happy new year!
