ADDISON ALUMNI BANQUET CANCELLED

I, Robert Bartholomew, Vice President of the Addison Alumni Association, am writing this letter to attract your attention to the fact that the banquet which was scheduled on the 20 th of June will be cancelled with immediate effect. The reason for this cancellation is due to the Covid-19 stay at home order being extended to at least the 15th of May. The Addison Alumni Association apologizes for any inconvenience that this decision may have caused. Our focus now is to stay healthy and we hope to see you all next year.

Continue To PraySubmitted by Sharon Calkins

Covid 19 is not going to ruin my faith. God knew before it happened that it would. My prayer is that we don’t lose our faith. Continue to live safely and praise God for what He has done, is doing and will do for you. I know that we are living in a nation that we are not used to. We are used to going out and doing things, now we can’t. Church, school and some lives have been put on hold. Elective surgeries are not allowed, yet. Please pray for all postal workers, truck drivers, nursing homes, the medical fi eld, the cleaning staff that are making it safe for patients and for the patients. Pray for President Trump. Continue to lift up our Churches, schools, students and teachers. We have parents that are now at home teachers plus trying to work. Call your elderly neighbors, especially those living alone. Days can get very long for them. Show Jesus to someone and let His light shine through you. Grocery stores remain open. Be kind and considerate. Wear your mask when you go out in public. Someday this will be behind us. Be thankful for what you can do and not dwell on what you can’t do. God bless you.

Life Isn’t So Bad!Written by: Audrey Stepanian

When life gets that shut-in-feeling and each day seems much like the last one we need to think about the good things we are thankful for. Things that we can count on or depend on. Be thankful for the days that the sun does shine. The birds sing even when it is raining. Be glad we live in America where we are free to make choices. To worship openly. Just being free to own a Bible and being free to read it and to pray. We can say what we think and feel. We have hospitals, nurses and doctors who care and give good care.We have food to eat or food cupboards to get some through the generous hearts of others. We do have so many opportunities that other countries like China and North Korea do not have. People from other countries clamor to be able to come here and live in America. So join me in a prayer of Thankfulness. Let us share what we have. You will bless others and be blessed yourselves.

Agricultural Businesses Agricultural businesses in the area have a second chance for the Small Business Administration’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program. The EIDL reopening is for agricultural businesses previously ineligible for the program and engaged in the production of food and fi ber, ranching, and raising of livestock, aquaculture, and all other farming and agricultural related industries. Those who have already applied under the streamlined application (March 30th to program closure) do not need to re-apply. New non-agricultural business applications will not be accepted. “We encourage agriculture businesses to learn more about the options available to them during this time including the EIDL,” said Steuben County Cornell Cooperative Extension Executive Director Tess McKinley. “Another program to consider is Harvest New York, which is an initiative to help local Food Banks connect to the farming community. We’re here to support the community, including our local farmers, during this time.” The portal will be opened for a limited period, and it is recommended that applications be submitted as soon as possible at http://www.sba.gov/Disaster

Armstrong Hosts Breaking Bread Virtual 5K Run/Walk to

Support Local Food Banks and Pantries

For the past decade Armstrong has supported over 200 local food banks and pantries through their companywide initiative called Breaking Bread. The COVID-19 crisis has these community feeding programs experiencing an increased demand for their services and struggling to have enough resources to help those in need. To assist these food banks and pantries, Armstrong will host the Breaking Bread Virtual 5K Run and Walk. Participants can run, walk, or bike from any location, while helping to support their neighbors in need. All money raised will remain in the communities where participants live.Armstrong customers and employees normally donate food and money to local Armstrong locations with resources helping to stock the shelves at local community feeding programs. Like many things in the world right now, that assistance has now become a ‘virtual’ experience. “The event is meant to be fl exible for those helping to supportBreaking Bread, allowing participants to run or walk using treadmills or ellipticals, to bike in your neighborhood or park, or to even break up the distance over several days,” stated Kirk Beaver, General Manager of the Addison system. “The most important piece of the event is that anyone can help these food banks during this time of need.”The Breaking Bread Virtual 5K Run/Walk will take place from May 20 through May 30. Local Breaking Bread partner food banks will receive the full $20 registration fee. All participants will receive a fi nisher’s medal. Those who sign-up by May 17 will receive their medals before the race period. All other medals will be sent after the event has been completed.Registration is currently open and will remain open through May 30. Participants can learn more and sign-up by visiting ArmstrongOneWire.com/BreakingBreadAbout Breaking Bread: Breaking Bread is Armstrong’s four-pronged approach to giving by providing food, money, time, and awareness to community feeding programs. Breaking Bread was started by Armstrong on March 8, 2010 and provides support in 6 states across Armstrong’s entire service territory; and is celebrating the 10 Year Anniversary in 2020.Visit ArmstrongOneWire.com/BreakingBread for more information.About Armstrong: Armstrong provides industry leading high-speed ZOOM Internet with Enhanced Wi-Fi and telephone services to residential and commercial customers in New York; as well as Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, andKentucky.

Honor Your Mother Mother’s Day was originally set aside as a special day to honor and show appreciation to mothers. Showing your gratitude and love on this designated day is important, but why should we wait for a special occasion to express our affection? A telephone call, card or short note done spontaneously, is always appreciated. Jesus was spontaneous. His fi rst miracle was performed at the wedding in the town of Cana. His mother merely stated that the wedding party was out of wine. Jesus remarked that His time had not yet come, however, He knew His mother’s desire and responded by changing the water into wine. Even when our Lord was dying on the cross, one of His concerns was that of His mother. He saw His mother and His disciple, John, standing by and He said to His mother, “He is your son.” then He said to His disciple, “She is your mother”. From that time the disciple took her to live in his home. She speaks with a gentle wisdom. She is always busy and looks after her family’s needs. Her children show their appreciation, and her husband praises her. Good News Bible TEV Proverbs 31:26-28
