Notes 4.2 Scatter Plots and the Coordinate Plane
A coordinate plane uses ordered pairs such as(4,2) to name points. The numbers are the coordinates of the points. A coordinate planehas two axes, the x-axis (horizontal) and they-axis (vertical). The first number of the ordered pair is the x-coordinate and the secondnumber is the y-coordinate. The origin islocated where the two axes cross. The axescross at (0,0).
A scatter plot is a collection of points in a coordinate plane that represents a relation-ship between two quantities.
