This is the standardized note for all online classes at Madison College. Students see this note attached to the course in our course schedule PRIOR to registering for the class. Instructors have an option to add a customizable note for their course sections as described at the bottom of this document.

1. On  average,  online  students  should  expect  to  budget  around  3  hours  of  work  time  every  week  for  a  1  credit  online  course.  

2. Go  to  the  Blackboard  site,  https://blackboard.madisoncollege.edu/,  and  ensure  you  can  log  in  (using  your  Madison  College  username  and  password).    Your  online  course  will  be  available  approximately  one  week  before  the  start  of  the  class  and  will  contain  further  information.    Login  

to  the  course  on  or  before  the  first  day;  failure  to  do  so  may  jeopardize  continued  enrollment  in  the  class  (see  Madison  College’s  attendance  policy,  http://madisoncollege.edu/classroom-­‐attendance).    If  you  are  experiencing  trouble  with  Blackboard  please  contact  the  Student  Help  

Desk  at  (608)243-­‐4444.  3. Students  MUST  use  their  Madison  College  email  account.    Please  check  your  email  at  least  one  

week  prior  to  the  start  of  the  class.    You  can  activate  your  account  here:

5. Students  have  until  the  day  before  the  class  starts  to  register.    Students  must  obtain  permission  from  the  instructor  to  register  after  this  point.    Students  will  have  until  the  “last  date  to  enroll”  to  use  the  permission  granted  from  the  instructor.

o Students  are  expected  to  complete  basic  introductory  activities  before  the  first  day  of  class.    Coursework  for  this  class  is  due  weekly  and  students  are  expected  to  log  in  to  the  course  to  participate  throughout  the  week.    Assessments  for  this  class  include  proctored  exams.  

o This  course  requires  a  webcam  and  microphone  for  oral  presentations.  This  course  requires  viewing  video  streamed  over  the  internet;  access  to  a  fast  connection  is  required.
