not to be missed05/03“CARNEVALONE” OF CHIVASSO 2017The big parade of “Carnevalone” of Chivasso, whose tradition dates back to 1951, is one of the most important in the region: it involves over 40 floats and about 4,000 masks and appearing in a really unique gala in Piemonte. The Carnival plays an historical meaning related to the figure of the “Abbà”, male personage who in the XIV century, at the head of a Brotherhood of revelers, during the Carnival period used to impose taxes and levies of various kinds. In 1434, when the sense of the measure was passed, the Brotherhood took on religious connotations and the Abbà, besides distributing sweets and oranges, has enjoyed certain prerogatives like that to judge about disputes or release prisoners.ChivassoT.
