Worship Aid 1. Mighty to Save Feb. 2, 2020

Ev’ryone needs compassion, love that’s never failing. Let mercy fall on me. Ev’ryone needs forgiveness, the kindness of a Savior, the hope of na ons.

Savior: he can move the mountains. My God is mighty to save; he is mighty to save!

Forever, author of salva on: he rose and conquered the grave; Jesus conquered the grave!

So take me as you find me, all my fears and failures. Fill my life again. I give my life to follow ev’rything I believe in. Now I surrender.

4. Unwavering

Blessed are the poor; the kingdom is theirs; alive in the promise to be dead to the world.

Blessed are the meek in awe of You, Father. The Word at Your right hand, the Spirit of truth.

Unwavering is Your voice. Unwavering is Your hand. Unwavering is the heart that bled for the sins of man.

Unwavering is Your will. Unwavering is Your plan. The font of salva on on which we will stand.

Blessed are the righteous on bended knee bound in this freedom, commi ed to You. Blessed are those who see the heights of glory found in the valley in suff’ring for You.

6. No Greater Love

For the city, for the world we pray; let Your light shine down, come around and live in us. For the close and the far away; ev’rywhere, You are ev’rywhere.

And we li high the banner of the cross, there is no greater love than this, no love but this.

Jesus Christ laid down His life for us, there is no greater love than His, no love but His.

To the city, to the world we go; set us free, heal the land You have promised, God, You can. To the last and the least we go. Ev’rywhere, You are ev’rywhere.

(bridge)

In the poor, in the broken, in the crowded city streets, in the towers, in the money; in the strong and in the weak;

In the orphans and the widows, in the churches and afar You are ev’rywhere, God, You are ev’rywhere.

Pas t o ra l Le t t e r

My family joined St. Joseph Parish in 1976. Charlie and I served as volunteers in the Confirmation program; our children all graduated from our parish school. Given the opportunity to join the parish staff in 1981, I enjoyed the trust and encouragement of several pastors who assigned me to positions in Religious Education, Liturgy, and Volunteer Coordination. Administrative responsibilities were added over the years. I have appreciated the giving hearts and hands of many of you who took a risk to help animate and enrich our family of faith. The parish grew and ministry flourished. Now, with lower attendance, declining contributions, and diocesan needs, our parish is required to downsize our large pastoral and office staff. My staff position was eliminated on January 31st. Our challenge now is to strengthen our volunteer teams to provide assistance to our remaining staff members who must take on more responsibilities.

So, you ask “What can I do to help my parish family?”

Find an activity within the parish

to join and support.

Use your gifts to help make our parish thrive!

How can your gifts and talents serve the Church in powerful ways?

Answer the call to give of time, talent and treasure.

There is no hope if it all depends on one person.

But, if we work together –

well that’s a different story – isn’t it?

What Was, Is, and Will Be depends on all of us.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

Faith in Action WHO ARE THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS?

A Legacy of Faith and Service Founded by Fr. Michael J. McGivney, a young parish priest now on the path to sainthood, the Knights of Columbus has helped strengthen men, their families, their parishes and their communities since 1882. Today, there are more than 1.9 million Knights doing good across the world. The Knights of Columbus stands as the strong right arm of the Church, and challenges members to grow in their faith through programs, fraternity and vital resources such as our award-winning magazine, Columbia.

Do More. Be More. As Catholic men, we are called to do more. The Knights of Columbus can help you answer that call. Membership connects you with opportunities to make an impact in your community and gives you access to resources that help you grow deeper in faith and stay informed about the issues Catholics care about. You'll also have exclusive access to insurance and financial planning products to help you protect your family. As part of a council, you’ll be able to serve your parish and community directly with the support of a fraternity of brothers who share your faith, your values, and your desire to live with purpose.

Become a Knight Begin your journey in just a few minutes when you fill out our online application to become a Knight. When you join online, you’ll instantly gain access to Knights.net, our online portal that is home to faith formation resources, news from Knights around the globe, information on issues important to Catholics, and a calendar to keep you in the know. You can take your membership to the next level by indicating you’re interested in joining a council in the application process, and a local Knight will contact you. Knights in Action. Faith in Action.

The Knights of Columbus offers men a place to lead their families and communities in faith and service and put their Faith into Action! Faith in Action is the new program model of the Knights of Columbus. This model offers a mission driven platform designed to consider the needs of men and their families in the twenty-first century. Knights of Columbus members, parishes and families have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference through the 32 Faith in Action programs. Organized into the Faith, Family, Community and Life categories, the Faith in Action program model empowers Knights to come together to share their Catholic faith, celebrate fraternity with loved ones, and do what they do best — stand shoulder to shoulder in service to the community and to defend life at all stages and in every condition. Liturgy of the Hours

Deacon Jim Merle will share his faith journey story and help us gain a deeper understanding of the prayer of the Church, known as the Liturgy of the Hours. Deacon has led a faith-filled life of service and is a recognized leader in our diocese. Many recognize his baritone voice and how he sings with energy. Come find out why! Deacon Jim has filled a variety of parish and diocesan roles, and recently was appointed as a member on the Diaconate Personnel Board for the Diocese of Orange. He will provide us with an insight into the Liturgy of the Hours and lead us through a typical Hours Prayer. Attend and learn more about how to pray deeply and pick up some additional tidbits on Deacon Jim! Bring a friend and an item to share for our potluck lunch!

¿Deseas Crecer Espiritualmente?

Dr. Ruben Barron, Director Espiritual [email protected], 714 321-4827
