Brie history o the projet

Ministerio dos Reursos Naturais e Meio Ambiente applied or support

rom Norway in 2004 and 2005 within the ollowing three areas:

Training Sharing o experiene and expertise within petroleum resoure management Inreased transpareny and elimination o orruptionA at fnding mission to Sao Tome and Prinipe was onduted in July 2005

and a new vist was made in Otober. A study tour was then arranged in

Norway or 8 parliamentarians rom Sao Tome and Prinipe at the end o

November / beginning o Deember 2005.

Ativities in 2006A delegation o 6 persons rom ANP or visited NPD 18th and 22nd

September 2006 to learn more about petroleum setor supervision and

governane. At the same time the elements o a long term support to

Sao Tome and Prinipe were disussed.

Based on the disussions a ull request doument was prepared and sent

to the Embassy in Angola and to NORAD. During the EITI onerene in Oslo

ANP and NPD ompleted the request douments. The appliation was

presented to Minister or Development Assistane Erik Solheim on 17th Otober.

The response was positive.

Several donors are supporting the petroleum setor in Sao Tome e Prinipe.

A long term support will have to be oordinated between the main donors.

Mr Teixeira o ANP ollowed the Petrad 8 week ourse in Stavanger this all.

Plans 2007The plans are depending on the fnal deision regarding support to

Sao Tome and Prinipe under the OD initiative.

The deision will very muh depend on whih support is given by other

donors and meetings with other donors are planned.
