NORTHUMBERLAND PARKOCTOBER 2014
WHY DO WE WANT TO IMPROVE AND REGENERATE NORTHUMBERLAND PARK?Tottenham is part of one of the greatest cities in the world. This brings huge challenges, such as providing good housing for a growing population, but also brilliant opportunities and potential for our community. We’re committed to bringing long-term regeneration to Tottenham to take advantage of these opportunities and tackle the issues you’ve told us are important to you.
Our 20-year plan for Tottenham – based directly on your feedback – sets out our vision that by the age of 20, a child born in the area today will have a quality of life and access to the same level of opportunity that is at least equal to the best in London.
What’s already happening? At Tottenham Hale, thousands of modern homes have been built at Hale Village, the unpopular one-way road gyratory has been removed, and major investment will bring a new Tube, rail and bus station.
At High Road West, we’re consulting residents on proposals for 1,200 new high-quality homes, more open spaces and better community facilities.
A revamped Tottenham Green and more public art, shop front
improvements and ‘pocket parks’ have brought our public spaces to life.
What about Northumberland Park?We will not leave Northumberland Park behind. We know that residents are proud of their area and that there is a strong community spirit. We also know that you, rightly, want to
see the best for your families and community.
But we know there are problems too. You have told us that you want to see action to help get more local young people into work, you want the neighbourhood to feel safer and see better support for residents with health conditions that affect people’s quality of life.

Feedback from our early consultation events shows that you want change. Residents have told us they want higher-quality homes, a better choice of affordable housing, and more variety in building types and open spaces. You think there should be improved public transport, more leisure and cultural activities, and less empty space.
WHERE ARE WE NOW?
Delivering this range of improvements for the benefit of local people is achievable if there is new investment in the area and if the council is able to work closely with local residents and its partners to set out a clear plan for change in north Tottenham.

Please come along to one of the events below and give us your views on how regeneration and change could happen, as well as your feedback on the key principles including:
• new and better homes
• open spaces
• better connections across the area
• community facilities
If you can’t join us on any of these dates you can view the exhibition boards online as well as complete an online questionnaire.
