First of all I would like to apologize for the May banners not getting out on time. There was a slight mix up and we truly apologize for any inconvince this may have caused. On a better note I want to thank everyone for coming out to our May events and supporting our Lodge. I also want to thank the six pack for putting out a great dinner and great entertainment for the Cinco De Mayo celebration. I also want to thank Rick and Terri Huffman and there crew for doing such a great job for the Hard Times Ball. Our Mothers Day Brunch is always a great success. Message from the Leading Knight.

Hello fellow elks! Mother’s Day was a great success! I’m not sure how many we served (we quit counting!) but a good time was had by all! I want to extend my thanks to all the officers who pitched in and helped out but a special thank you goes out to PER Dave Albertson who when asked for helped jumped in and took charge of the kitchen and all the food. Couldn’t have done it without you Dave, once again you showed your dedication to the welfare of this lodge! Which brings me to another matter. Whether you are a charter member of this lodge or have been a member since the last initiation we need your support and dedication to survive as a prosperous lodge. Not only do we need bingo workers (a constant plea) but we need you to come to the many functions our lodge puts on and attend the meetings. We have many functions coming up in June including a Father’s Day brunch (which will probably turn into an all day BBQ as well) and our Pool Party on the 28th which will have our annual duck race and much fun for all. As Leading Knight I am very interested in knowing why many of you aren’t coming to these fun events so please give me a call and let me know your needs or issues. Hope to see you all for Fathers Day and on the 28th!

Memory LaneAs a new year starts for our Order, I’d like to take this month to remember our Brothers that are no longer with us and all that they have done for us and with us. They are to many to name. We would also like to thank their families for supporting them and our Lodge. The great work we do can only be accomplished through our members and their families. So to all our Absent Members we say thank you for being a brother to all of us. And to the remaining families, we invite you to come out and join us again. You are still a vital part of our Lodge and more importantly, our hearts.

    Rick and Terri Huffman

Keep your friends close to you and your enemies even closer and hopefully you know who’s who!

Our first camp out at St. Vrain State Park with 9 rigs wasn’t the best weather (to say the least), but we still had a great time. Host and hostess Larry and Candy Trimp really outdid themselves with wonderful food and really fun games. Thank you, Candy and Larry! The 2008 camping schedule is below and we would love to have you join us. Membership to the Corks this year remains at $10.00 or without a membership, each camp out is $5.00 per rig. Guests over 21 attending more than 3 camp outs are encouraged to become a member of the Lodge and of the Rovin Corks. Please sign up for a camp out by calling us or sending us an e-mail. Our names, numbers, and e-mail addresses are shown below. All the campgrounds have tent sites and some have cabins for those who don’t have RV’s. The hostesses for each camp out are the volunteers who plan the food and activities for that camp out. Please watch the Bulletin Board and the Banner or call for detailed information on each camp out. Typically, each weekend starts on Friday night and ends on Sunday by check out time. Everyone is on their own for dinner on Friday night. Saturday morning is a potluck breakfast. Dinner Saturday night is up to the hostess. Sunday morning everyone is packing up to leave, so we all eat available leftovers!

Our flag is the nations symbol of unity, a democracy within a republic and it stands for our

country’s devotion to freedom, to the rule of all and to equal rights for all.

The flag stands for my grandfather, father, uncles, brothers, cousins —for all that have served

    in the armed forces.

The flag stands to remind us of all the battles we have fought and why we had to fight. We fight

for the rights of all people. Our flag stands tall amongst the flags of the world as the country

dedicated to freedom, justice and world peace.

Our flag is for giving—-people willing to help their neighbor, to feed the poor and house the

    homeless.

The flag stands to remind us all of our duty to uphold those freedoms to all people.

The flag stands to remind us not only of what we have, but how far we still need to go—-because

the job is not done until we truly have world peace and true love for all mankind,

The flag stands to remind all veterans of why they served under her—and to remind our

country of what we owe to all those veterans.

The flag is only a bunch of thread—the true flag is the weaving of millions of people who believe

in freedom, truth and the love of our fellow man.
