Rules and regulations vary by each community and trail. Bicycles are allowed on National Forest trails except where posted. Trails in the Huron National Forest open to foot traffic only include the Hoist Lake Foot Trails, Reid Lake Foot Travel Area, and Corsair Trails. Contact the Huron National Forest (800) 821-6263. Bicycles are allowed on most State Forest trails. For more information and a map, contact the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. Bicycles are allowed on specified trails in State Parks. Call the individual park or the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for maps of trails and further information. Bicycles are permitted on all Michigan highways and roads, EXCEPT limited access freeways or unless otherwise posted. The Huron Greenways system is a collection ofexisting land and water trails and routes linkingpublic lands found in the coastal portions of Alcona,Alpena, Cheboygan, Iosco and Presque IsleCounties. Visit www.heritage23.com for moreinformation and to access interactive trail maps.
Many local communities have developed their own trail systems. Rules andregulations vary by each community and trail.
Bicycles are allowed on National Forest trails except where posted. Trails inthe Huron National Forest open to foot traffic only include the Hoist LakeFoot Trails, Reid Lake Foot Travel Area, and Corsair Trails. Contact theHuron National Forest (800) 821-6263.
Bicycles are allowed on most State Forest trails. For more information and amap, contact the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
Bicycles are allowed on specified trails in State Parks. Call the individual parkor the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for maps of trails andfurther information.
Bicycles are permitted on all Michigan highways and roads, EXCEPT limitedaccess freeways or unless otherwise posted. Bicycles are allowed on all roadsystems including those in State Forests, State Parks, and National Forests.
