A very warm welcome to today’s final from the Northamptonshire County Football Association and in particular the members of the County Cup Committee.

The County Cup Committee has organised 577 games this season to bring us the eventual 2016 competition winners for 17 cup competitions - from Veterans, Saturday, Sunday, Youth and Women/Girls’ football.

We extend our thanks to the host club who have kindly made their facilities available for us to stage our final today.

Congratulations to our finalists who have won a place in today’s game. We look forward to an exciting and competitive game of football. I would also extend my congratulations to the match officials on their success in achieving an appointment to this final.

Please do stay at the conclusion of the game to congratulate both teams and the officials as we award the trophy and individual medals. There will also be an award to one of the supporting team of volunteers from each club in recognition of all the very hard work that takes place at each club throughout the season.

I hope you enjoy a great footballing event today and I thank you for your support and attendance at today’s final. Please do give generously to the Swain Benevolent Fund collection, which is taking place today. The Fund supports players, officials and administrators in times of need and is a very worthwhile cause to support.

Finally, I would wish to extend my sincere thanks to every member of the County Cup Committee and the staff at the Northamptonshire FA office who have worked so hard this season with me to deliver the 2016 County Cup Finals in my first season as Chairman – well done to all.

4NORTHAMPTON ALBANY ATHLETIC VS NORTHAMPTON MANFIELD RANGERS VENUE: NORTHAMPTON ON CHENECKS FC | KICK-OFF: 7.30PM | Tuesday 22nd March 2016

The team itself is run by two men that put 110% into the club. Sometimes they don’t see eye to eye with all that happens on the pitch but when the game is finished, they go back to the pub for beer and food.

Albany has been known under lots of different names but it is one of the oldest clubs going and is in its 31st year in the Northampton Sunday Conference. All involved hope there will be many more years ahead and that the club only grows bigger and stronger. Coaches would like

THE SQUAD

to thank all the lads for being there week in week out to get this club, Albany Athletic, to this final. The team has had to travel all over the county to get to the final, including Peterborough. Albany also had a replay of the semi-final, which was tough but they have all stuck together and got to the final!

There are a couple of players that couldn’t make the final; Anthony Church, Harry Johnson, Liam Harris and Jack Winkle, so the club would like to thank them as well.

This is our 11th season as Manfield Rangers, formed from the embers of The Pioneer Reserves, who were playing in the lowest division of the Sunday Conference League, from which five players are still part of the first team squad/management.

During that time we have risen up the Sunday Combination Leagues from Division 7 to Division 2, and the only thing that we have won, was the Chronicle & Echo Cup in 2011, and the League’s Fair Play Award in the 2007/08 season.

ZAC ADAMSSuperb striker who scores lots of goals; very quick and difficult to handle

CRAIG APPLEBYSecond stint with Manfield; excellent all-round goalkeeper

JACK BATESGreat engine; works hard from box to box and plays killer passes to our front men

TOMMY BURWOODConverted from striker; now ball-winner in midfield

BEN CHAMBERSConverted from winger to centre-back; great in the air in both boxes

JASON DEEGANNo-nonsense left footer; excellent in the air at both ends of the pitch

TIM ENGLANDHard-working midfielder; often asked to play out position for the sake of the team

GARETH GODDARDClub Chairman; very versatile in playing anywhere and great stand-in goalkeeper

SHAUN GURNHAMSecond season with Manfield; great left foot and chips in with goals

NORTHAMPTON MANFIELD RANGERS

DAVE HODSONStriker; difficult to shake off the ball and always gets his fair share of goals

CHRIS NEWBURYPlays out wide and delivers great crosses from either wing

DOM RICHARDSONStriker or out wide; possesses a powerful left foot

JASON ROSEClub captain; super defender, but can also go forward with purpose

MATT SILECCHIANew player this season; what a difference he has made, scores and holds up the ball

MATT SYMONDSONCalming central defender; reads the game well and delivers killer balls, especially free kicks

JASON WALPOLEBall winner wherever he plays; always gives 100%

This year, with the appointment of ex-players Jamie Tompkins and Paul Browning as joint managers, and only one new player, we are having a relatively successful time, particularly in reaching two Cup Finals, and currently top of our league; but we have not won anything yet!

In the league we have not lost this season, and providing we win our remaining games, we have every chance of topping Division 2 on 1st May.
