This is a wonderful achievement and I would like to thank Mrs Crawford for her dedication and commitment to GNPS. Multicultural Public Speaking School Final Congratulations to Emma 3/4D, Caleb 4P, Kaeli 5W and Muntasir 6D who were the school finalist from last week’s public speaking assembly. Yesterday these students went to GEPS to represent GNPS at the Zone final of the Multicultural Public Speaking competition. All four spoke well and represented our school beautifully. Congratulations to Muntasir who received a highly commended. NAIDOC Public Speaking Challenge This Thursday Piper and Abbey will represent GNPS at the NAIDOC Public Speaking Challenge at GHS. The girls have prepared a speech on this year’s NAIDOC Week Theme “Our Language Matters.” I would like to wish the girls all the best for the challenge!

NAIDOC Week Celebrations “Our Languages Matter” NAIDOC Week is from 2nd July to the 9th July, which is during the school holidays. GNPS will be celebrating NAIDOC Week next week. We have planned the following activities for the week; Mon: K-6 NAIDOC Week Assembly 11.35am Wed: Class Rotation (BBQ lunch for all students) Fri: Traditional Indigenous Games during the day. I would like to thank Ms Maloni, Mrs Allen and Mrs Crawford for organising these activities for our students. Parents and caregivers are invited along to help celebrate NAIDOC Week on these days.

Athletics Carnival This Thursday is our Athletics Carnival. Years 3-6 will be catching buses to West End Oval at 9.25am and returning to school at approximately 3.00pm. The 3-6 Carnival will start at 9.45am. The K-2 students will catch buses at 10.am and return to school at 1.15pm. The K-2 carnival will start at 10.30am. I would like to wish all our students all the best for this carnival and thank Mr Angel for organising the 3-6 Athletics Carnival and Mrs De Paoli for organising the K-2 carnival.

Behaviour Awards Congratulations to all the students who received their Behaviour Award at today’s assembly. It is wonderful to see so many students behaving well and displaying our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) values. Well done and keep up the great work!

PBL –Expectation Focus for the Week This week’s focus for PBL is:

“Play Fairly”

When playing games, it is important that all students know the rules and follow the rules, so the game is played fairly and everyone can enjoy the game.

Kindergarten Enrolments for 2018 Come and enrol now! Enrolments for students who are eligible to attend school in 2018 are now being taken. Eligible students are those who live in zone and turn 5 before July 31st 2018. If you have a child or you know of anyone who has a child who is able to attend school in 2018 please ask them to come and enrol. Applications for enrolments are now being taken at the school office. Please present your child’s Immunisation record, Birth Certificate and evidence of residential address at the time of application.

GNPS Choir at KROP - Tickets Our school choir was successful in our recent KROP (Kids Rapt on Performing) audition. We will be performing at the Griffith Regional Theatre on Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd August.

Tickets for both matinee and evening performances will go on sale to the public on Monday 10th July at 10am. Evening performance tickets will be available at the box office and online. Matinee tickets are available only from the box office.

Canteen News Week 9

This Thursday is our Athletics Carnival. We would love donations of cakes and slices to sell with the tea and coffee. If you are able to make a cake or slice, please take it to the canteen on Thursday at West End. We will greatly appreciate your donations. We are still in desperate need of helpers on Fridays. If you are able to help on Fridays the following are the times and what you will be helping with: 8.45-9.15 Serving 9.15-11.15 Food Preparation 11.15-11.35 Serving 11.35- 1.00 Food Preparation 1.00- 2.00 Serving and cleaning up We would be grateful if you could help at any of these times if you are not able to stay for the full day. HOW2Learn Parent Information Evening The H2L committee will be holding a Parent Information Evening on HOW2Learn on Thursday 29th June, during the school disco. There will be a K-2 session from 5.30pm-6.30pm and a 3-6 session from 6.30pm to 8.00pm. These sessions will be held in 6D’s classroom. We hope that parents and caregivers will take the opportunity to come along to find out about these strategies that are being used in the classrooms at GNPS.

Lost Property Room 2 ½ is overflowing with lost property! If your child has lost an item of clothing, please go and have a look and hopefully you will find the missing item.

Theme; The 80’s Entry fee is $2.00;

Food and drinks will be on sale. The cost

will range from $1 to $2 per item; and

Glow Sticks will also be sold on the night.

We hope that everyone can come along and enjoy the end of term SRC Disco. The proceeds raised from the disco will go towards Sydney Children’s Hospital. Thanking You GNPS SRC

Sport News PSSA Basketball Knockout On Wednesday 14 June our school basketball team travelled to West End sports stadium to play Yenda Public School. It was a very close game in the first two quarters however, Yenda got an 11 point lead by the third quarter. Griffith North had an excellent fourth quarter and we came out victorious. The final score was 33-29. We all played very well. Blake Romeo top scored with 10 points and we all had a lot of fun. We now have to play Edward Public School in Deniliquin on Monday 26th June. Touch Gala Day On Tuesday 27th June our boys and girls touch teams will participate in the PSSA Touch Football knockout competition at Ted Scobie Oval. I would like to wish both teams all the best and thank Mrs Date and Mrs Pandolfo for coaching and supervising the teams.

Year 4 Borambola Excursion DATE: Wednesday November 29 to Friday December 1, 2017 APPROXIMATE COST: $270 (includes meals, accommodation and transport) If you would like your child to participate in this excursion please return the consent form attached to the note that Mr Pendlebury handed out earlier this term, with the initial deposit of $50 by Thursday 29th June.
