Local Challenges in Health and Care
Keeping pace with demand is hugely challenging given:
1. Colchester remains the second fastest growing borough in the UK
2. Essex has the 2nd highest elderly population in Europe
3. Tendring has the highest concentration of residential care
businesses in the UK
4. There were nearly 4,000 Health and Care vacancies posted in
2016 (Colchester and Tendring)
5. Challenges recruiting to Colchester Hospital NHS Trust and other
providers – will worsen as a result of Brexit

College Challenges in Health and Care

1. Limited specialist accommodation and equipment to support

experience
The project aims to enthuse and inspire local people, local
employers and staff to create career opportunities, to improve care
