North Gwinnett High School Band Program 2018-2019 School Year 2017-2018 Marching Band The North Gwinnett High School Bands have a long tradition of excellence and continue to be a source of pride in our community. The NGHS band program has grown to include 280 students in a variety of ensembles. The program currently has 4 concert band classes and 2 percussion classes that meet each day on a traditional 7 period schedule (6 classes, one lunch period). Extra-curricular ensembles include the NGHS Bulldog Marching Band, NGHS Jazz Ensemble and the Bulldog Basketball Band. The band continues to be well represented in the GMEA All-State Bands and Orchestras as well as the GMEA District 13 Honor Bands and Honor Jazz Ensemble. The 2017-2018 football season was an exciting one as our Bulldog football team won the state championship, and the NGHS Marching Band was with them every step of the way. There were over 60+ public performances by the Bulldog Marching Band, Concert Ensembles, Jazz Band, Indoor Drumline, Winter Guard, and the Bulldog Basketball Band over the course of the 2017-2018 school year. Some of the highlights include: Marching Band performance in the 2017 McDonalds Thanksgiving Day Parade, Chicago Illinois Marching Band straight Superior Ratings at the White Columns Invitational Marching Contest, Milton, GA and straight Superior Ratings at the Southern Invitational Marching Festival, Sprayberry, GA Indoor Drumline achieved Scholastic World Class (highest class in WGI competition for high schools) and finished in top 3 of every contest in Georgia Indoor Percussion Circuit. NGHS Winter Guard finished in the top 3 of each show in Southeastern Association of Performing Arts contests, placed 1st 3 times, was a Bronze Medalist at the SAPA Championships and achieved 3 class promotions during the season 2017-2018 Jazz Band

− NGHS Bands had 33 Members qualify for Georgia Music Educators Association District 13 Honor Bands, 21 Members qualify for the GMEA All-State Bands and Orchestras, placed two members in the GMEA All-State Jazz Band and achieved straight Superior Ratings at the GMEA District 13 Large Group Performance Evaluations: 3 concert ensembles (Symphonic Winds, Symphonic Band, Concert Band)

There were 52 graduates in the NGHS Band Programs Class of 2018. Of those 52, 22 graduates plan to continue performing at the university level: UGA, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Auburn, North Texas, Columbus State, Berklee College of Music, and Emory University. Seven graduates will be continuing as Music/Music Education Majors at UGA, Georgia State, North Texas, Berklee College of Music, Kennesaw State, Columbus State, Emory University.

− Purchase of new school-owned instruments and new music − Guest instructors and clinicians for Marching band, Jazz Band, Color Guard, percussionists − Indoor Drumline music and props − Color Guard equipment and props − Winter Guard music and props − Entry fees to scheduled marching band competitions – Collins Hill Eagles Nest Invitational, inaugural

Newsletters—The North Gwinnett Band Parents Association produces an electronic newsletter that is widely distributed to parents and students. It keeps everyone up-to-date on upcoming band events, rehearsals and performance schedules as well as other band related news.

Performance Programs—NGHS Bands produce a program for each school performance. These programs will identify corporate sponsors and thus provide excellent visibility to our greater community.
