“Fresh and Exciting… these guys ROCK!!”Tommy Emmanuel, Australian guitar virtuoso

Loren and Mark first met in 2005 when they spent a few days working with the great TommyEmmanuel at Jorma Kaukonen’s Fur Peace Ranch guitar camp. Mark was a college kid, justcompleting his degree in classical guitar at the University of North Carolina; Loren was already aseasoned performer, but it was his first serious look at acoustic guitar. After the workshop, Markvisited Loren and they spent some time picking guitar – and picking each other’s brains.

In 2009 they met again in Nashville at the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society (CAAS) convention,an international gathering of hundreds of guitarists. That set the stage for the 2010 CAASconvention where they were on the schedule of performers. Though they were not originallylisted to play on the big Saturday night finale, they were added to the show due to populardemand from those who heard them throughout the week.

Loren and Mark's varied repertoire of original and arranged music consists of stunning guitarduets as well as songs, giving them a wide appeal.

Their music is influenced by Bluegrass, Jazz and Western; their style of guitar playing is largelybuilt upon the thumb-picking techniques pioneered by guitar greats Merle Travis, Chet Atkins

and Jerry Reed, and their songs feature Lorens superb vocals and some beautiful harmoniesfrom Mark.

Featuring-Eddie Baccus Sr.-Hammond B-3 Organ, Cecil Rucker Vibes, John"J.J." James-Sax, Billy Artis-Guitar, Perry Williams III-Drums, and specialguest Ron Davis-Vocals.

One of the senior statesman of the Cleveland Jazz Scene, organist Eddie Baccus Sr. has set thestandard locally since the early 1960's. Like the late great Jimmy Smith, Baccus is a virtuoso onthe Hammond B-3, equally adept at soul jazz and bebop. In many ways Eddie Baccus Sr. hasbeen to the jazz scene what the late Robert Jr. Lockwood was to the local blues scene; he hasbeen a leader, mentor, and the soul of the community for many years.

Early on his talent was evident as he was linked with another jazz legend, saxophonist RolandKirk. Baccus and Kirk were schoolmates at the Ohio School of the Blind and their sessionstogether in the old Euclid and 105th area are the stuff of local legends. Kirk would go on tonational acclaim before his untimely death in the late 70's. Baccus stayed close to home and ithas been our good fortune.

Eddie Baccus Sr. has been a mentor to countless Cleveland jazz musicians, notably Joe Lovano,Ernie Krivda, and more recently his son, Eddie Baccus Jr.. His work has only been documentedinfrequently. He recorded an LP with Kirk back in 1962 "Feel Real" on Smash records. His otherrecording is a session done with Lovano in the mid 1980's entitled "Hometown Sessions". Although he has not gone on to greater glory playing the national circuit, Eddie Baccus Sr. hasbeen the bedrock of the Cleveland jazz scene and his influence on fans and musicians alike hasbeen invaluable.

Joining Eddie Baccus Sr. for his appearance at Nighttown will be an All-Star Cleveland lineup. They are Cecil Rucker on the Vibes. Eddie Sr. has frequently appeared with Cecil's group GoodVibes. Billy Artis is on guitar. Many will remember Billy from his days backing the late great BillDoggett at the Theatrical in downtown Cleveland. Perry Williams III is on drums. Perry is aveteran on the soul jazz circuit and has worked with Eddie Sr. and Cecil extensively. And onvocals is Ron Davis. Frank Vignola

Frank Vignola is one of the most extraordinary guitarists performing before the public today. Born on suburban Long Island on December 30, 1965, Vignola was raised in the New York area. The Italian-American started playing the guitar at the age of six and grew up admiring a varietyof guitarists. The guitarists that he admires range from Django and LesPaul to rock icons like Frank Zappa and Eddie Van Halen. As a young adult, Vignola studied atthe Cultural Arts Center of Long Island and went on to enjoy an enormous amount of sidemangigs in the 1980s including recording and touring with the likes of Madonna, Leon Redbone,Ringo Starr as well as coming into his own as a leader in 1988 with his famed Hot Club of Francetribute which was hailed in the NY Times as one of the top ten acts in New York City in 1988 andforged the way for the many Django Hot Club groups that followed.

Many more Concord releases followed in the 1990s aswell as 3 releases for the Telarc label as co-leader of the group Travelin’ Light. ATOMIC $20.00 Tuesday 2/10 7:00 pm Buy Tickets

Cutting edge Jazz Quintet from Norway, and Sweden, live at Nighttown!

Featuring: Fredrik Ljungkvist (reeds), Magnus Broo (trumpet), HavardWiik (piano), Ingebrigt Haker Flaten (bass), Hans Hulbækmo (drums).

Atomic was established in 2000 and already after their first two studio albums Feet Music (2002)and Boom Boom (2003), both their growing audience and music reviewers alike began toperceive them as an original flavor with an entirely individual energy that few Scandinavian jazzgroups could match. Even though initially thought of as a sort of rebellion to the quaintness ofthe “Scandinavian Sound” which had become exemplified by Norwegian artists on labels such asECM, Atomic found themselves becoming a new sort of unique sound on their own. An explosiveblend of American free-jazz with European characteristics is how some reviewers have describedthem. Or better yet, “part academic lecture, part a fun night out on the town”, is how the band

them. Or better yet, “part academic lecture, part a fun night out on the town”, is how the banddescribes themselves, and is what makes their sound truly Atomic.

While they make no secret of their admiration for leading American jazz musicians such as DukeEllington, Archie Shepp, Charles Mingus and George Russell, just to mention a few, the music ofAtomic is also mixed with an equal love of European free jazz and improvised music. They regardthe American and European jazz traditions as an inspiration rather than a restriction, as aspringboard to set their own direction and position within jazz music.

No strangers to the touring circuit, Atomic were on the road almost as soon as they were formed, and they have since 2000 been touring extensively in Europe, Japan and the US. They havereleased 12 CD’s including their 2010 releases “Theater tilters Vol 1 & 2”, in connection withtheir 10 year anniversary, and “There’s a hole in the mountain” in 2013.

Acoustic 12 string guitar wizard Neil Jacobs and his American Gypsyproject hit the Stage at Nighttown!

Featuring: Neil Jacobs-12 string acoustic guitar, Steven Fox-acoustic bass,& Arkadiy Gips-violin.

American gypsy is deserving of every honor it receives!

The Eastern European gypsy tradition is deftly captured, along with overtones of jazz and evenflamenco.Roma and folk traditions are presented in Neil Jacobs' own guitar styling compositions, supportedon many pieces with the Ukrainian master violinist Arkadiy Gips.

"American Gypsy", unlike many traditional peasant productions, is apt to reach a wider audiencethan most - Its flamenco styles will draw listeners of spanish music, its classical precision willappeal to classical musicians, and its gypsy roots will attract Eastern European listeners who willfind the blends surprising and refreshing.

From Flamenco to Hungarian gypsy cafe to near-Klezmer beats, American Gypsy provides a hostof ethnic-rooted, rollicking guitar songs.

An outstanding production!”
