A unique opportunity that FBLA offers to its members is the ability to become involved in the Business Achievement Awards, or BAA’s. This awards program allows you to work towards your goals when it is convenient for you. BAA’s is a program focused around the FBLA Crest: service, education, and progress. After your advisor registers you on the FBLA website for BAA’s, you can go online and pick which, of several activities you would like to complete to earn each level. The Business Achievement Awards have four distinct levels: Future, Business, Leader, and America. These levels must be completed in order, and require documentation and pictures to be submitted online for proof of completion for each activity. Please note: The BAA’s have been revamped by the national office. The same recognition

is awarded for each level completed; however, several changes have been made to the requirements for each level.

The BAA individual recognition program is a four-tier program aligned with the FBLA-PBL Goals, NBEA Standards, as well as Career Clusters. The Future level focuses on basic business skills, introduction to community service, and FBLA local involvement. As a reward for completing this level, pins are presented at a local FBLA event. The second BAA award level is Business, which focuses on local, regional, and state involvement, along with intermediate business skills and leadership in the community. Award pins are also presented at a local FBLA event. The third BAA level is the Leader level. Leader focuses on all prerequisites future and business involve, along with national involvement, advanced business skills, and community leadership. Names are recognized and pins are awarded at State Leadership Conferences. The highest BAA level achievable is the America level. America involves total association with leadership, business skills, and community involvement. Students qualifying for the award are welcomed to travel to the National Leadership Conference to be recognized and awarded their pin.

Participating in the Business Achievement Awards program is a way for members to be recognized for their involvement in their chapter and community. The opportunity to submit BAA applications closes on March 1st; however, registration is now open for students interested in the BAA program. If you have any questions about the BAA’s or how to get started visit www.fbla-pbl.org for more information.

Missouri FBLA is Rooting for Joplin –Doug Hutcherson

Members of Missouri FBLA-PBL are teaming up for a “feet-on-the-ground” effort to replenish the trees lost in the devastation of the Joplin tornado. Over a million trees were lost in the Joplin tornado on May 22, 2011.

Replanting and replenishing this community is going to take the efforts of everyone across the state of Missouri. In this effort the members of these organizations will be seeking monetary donations. The local chapters will be collecting donations throughout the school year and will be planting the trees in Joplin on May 5, 2012.

The Joplin residents are given an opportunity to request up to three trees for each residence. On May 5, members of both FBLA and PBL will meet in Joplin

to plant trees throughout Joplin. Our goal is for FBLA-PBL to donate to Joplin one tree per member, Missouri has approximately 13,000 members. The cost of a tree is $20 each, because Missouri FBLA will purchase the trees from a supplier that has offered this low price.

Please consider working with Missouri FBLA to put thousands of trees back into a city that has lost so much. Donations can be made to Missouri FBLA-PBL. Donation forms and information can be found at www.rootingforjoplin.org. Donations can be mailed to Rooting for Joplin, Missouri FBLA-PBL, PO Box 480, Jefferson City, MO 65102. June 29- July 2 FBLA National Leadership Conference- San Antonio, Texas

Hey North Central Region FBLA ~~I'm Brock Wright, a sophomore at Brookfield R-III High School in Missouri. It was just a year ago that I attended my very first FBLA event and I was hooked!! The enthusiasm and passion I saw from so many great youth leaders instantly made me realize that I, too, wanted to become more of a leader in my chapter AND state! I have set some pretty high goals for this year but I am determined to reach them. I am running for Missouri District 3 Treasurer AND Missouri State Treasurer!

I am fully dedicated to becoming a district and state officer. I have spent the entire past year attending workshops and conferences to gather information about FBLA. I have attended and competed at Missouri State Leadership Conference, traveled to Orlando, Florida to take part in the FBLA Institute for Leaders workshops, made the trip to the Lake of the Ozarks for the Missouri Officers Leadership Conference, and most recently attended National Fall Leadership Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas. I've made tons of new friends and gained a wealth of knowledge about FBLA. Currently, I am the Brookfield High School Student Council Treasurer, class treasurer and our local FBLA chapter treasurer

Now FBLA is a big part of my life, but so is my family. I have a great family that is always behind me every step of the way. My older brother, Brad, works at Pizza Hut. At the age of three, he was diagnosed with autism. Every day he inspires me to never give up or quit at any of my projects. I love my parents. They are always there for me and continually encourage me to give "my all" and to keep a positive attitude. Our family motto is "Champions are raised. Not Born." I invite you all to find me on Facebook. I love to meet new people!

Sincerely,

Brock Wright
