    IPAP-Infant &Preschool Aquatic Pro-gram 6 months +

    The Infant and Preschool Aquatics Program (IPAP) is offered forchildren twelve months through three years of age. All participants will be ac-companied by a parent/guardian. This program is not designed to teach childhow to swim or even to survive in the water on their own. Theemphasis is on having fun and preparing for swimming readiness as the childgets older.

    Level 1 -Introduction to WaterSkills

    The objectives for Level 1 are to learn basic personal water safetyinformation and skills, to help participants feel comfortable in the water. At thlevel basic aquatic skills are taught (front/back assisted floats, kicking actionsgliding, bobs and more.

    Level 2 -Fundamental AquaticSkills

    The objectives for Level 2 are to teach fundamental skills that will be usedthroughout the swim lesson programs. Swimmers will be taught to floatwithout support, and will begin to move through the water independently.

    Level 3 -Stroke Development

    The objectives for Level 3 are to build on previously learned skills taught byproviding additional guided practice. At this level they will begin to swim the fstyle/front crawl and elementary backstroke on their own.

    Level 4 -Stroke Improvement

    The objectives of Level 4 are to develop the swimmers confidence in the strolearned thus far and to improve other aquatic skills. Swimmerscontinue to learn new strokes: side-stroke, back stroke/crawl, and will start todevelop the breast-stroke and butterfly. The basics of flip turns will beexplored as well.

    Level 5 -Stroke Refinement

    The objectives of Level 5 are coordination and refinement of strokes.Participants refine their performance of all the strokes (freestyle/front crawl, bstroke/back crawl, butterfly, breast-stroke, elementary backstroke and side-stroke) and increase their endurance and distances. Flip turns areintroduced as well.
