Feature Overview

Where several people have similar access requirements to numerous doors - Access Levels are ideal.

When an individual has specific requirements to access a specific door, it makes them unique. Therefore, Access Levels become complicated and difficult to manage.

Nortech’s ‘Accommodation’ feature allows cardholders to be treated as individuals, as well as members of a group.

Rules for Movement

To set up access levels, we need to decide the rules for a type of person

People who have the same rules will be in the same access level

Every person with a different set of access rules/requirements will need an access level

Access Levels

1. All Students will be allowed to use the facilities in the accommodation block

2. All students will be allowed in the main school3. Only students who have paid for the gym can use it4. Only students who do not use the gym can use the library

These conditions give us 3 access levels:StudentsStudents who can use the gymStudents Who can use the library

This creates one access level:

Bob must clean all areas of the campus, including the accommodation rooms

Accommodation settings

1. Only the student(s) staying in a room in the accommodation block and Bob should have access to that room

2. Each student should also have access to the relevant areas in the college

3. There are 200 rooms in the accommodation block

These conditions give us 200 access levels

OR

We can use the 3 access levels for the students and assign “accommodation rights” (using the Accommodation feature) to each individual for use on their own door

This keeps access levels simple

Create a Card

Select a standard ‘Access Level’ from drop down box

Start the Accommodation feature

Choose the Door

Choose a door from the accommodation block

Search for a name

Search for a name (or part of the name) and drag & drop them onto the list (right) for the required accommodation door.

Each user in the list has unrestricted 24 hour access to that particular door.

Simple

So, instead of having to create multitudes of access levels you simply treat cardholders in 2 ways1. Put them into their access level (e.g student and GYM)

2. Assign them ‘accommodation rights’ to their own door

The ‘Accommodation Feature’ simplifies the process of card management when everyone needs to be treated individually

When a card is disabled on the system the accommodation rights are suspended, or alternatively, the accommodation rights can be removed without affecting the access rights to the rest of the system
