The Norringtons: A Legacy
Chapter 2.1

Welcome back to The Norringtons: A Legacy, formerly known as The Victorians: A Legacy. Good news: University is over and we've finally made it to the second generation! Huzzah! Wait, what was that? Technically we're still in generation one?! How so? All because we still have six weddings to report?! Bugger! Alright, sorry to disappoint but there will be no lovely Asher babies this chapter. *sob* Instead we get to see the Norrington kids get hitched. FINALLY. Those of you new to the story, I'd advise you read the past chapters. But if you're feeling daring, tuck in.

We begin our fair tale at Simself Manor, also known as The Green Monstrosity. Here we find Simself Elizabeth Denbow welcoming Miss Cee, the Simself of Charris, to Victorian Guilford. Charris, the writer of the wonderful Regacy, was oh so kind to allow the kidnapping of her Simself for my own selfish purposes. (the regacy legacy can be found at the boolprop forums. Along with many other great legacies)

I really appreciate your coming on such short notice. It's unfortunate Miss Koolio was unable to stay on but I'm certain you and Miss Harris will get on well. It's no trouble. Cee smiled. I was due for a vacation. I had considered Bath, but the English countryside is a fine second choice. She smirked. Not to mention I've heard this house is equipped with indoor plumbing. Can't pass that up. (miss koolio aka hannahkoolio; writer of the victoriacy also found at boolprop. miss harris aka kitty: my younger simself)

It's a pretty easy position. I simply need another pair of eyes around here. I have my hands full with my kids and the farm. And now that the first generation of the Norrington clan have grown up, that's five sets of households in the extended family. Aunts, uncles, cousins... It makes my head spin just thinking about it. Cee nodded. I feel your pain. Don't get me started on extended family.

And let us not forget about Miss Harris' so called charge Sebastian Devereaux. While I'm sure he's been on his best behavior, I can't be so certain about Kitty.Cee chuckled. Don't tell me you have gossip for me already. Liz leaned in teasingly. Not as yet. But leave them two alone any longer and the whole town will be talking about it.I'll be sure to keep my eye on them. I'd advise both eyes. Shall we head inside? (sebastian devereaux originates from the devereaux legacy. written by the brilliant peasant007. look for it at the boolprop forums)

Looks as though Humble was here. Liz snarled. That man and his blasted computers. Trying to corrupt my little Victorian paradise. I notice he's wise enough to make his deliveries when I'm no where in sight. If I ever get my hands on him...

Such a nice parlor. Cee cast an appreciative eye about. Your design? Liz shook her head. Actually I have to give Kitty credit for this. It's quite tasteful. And there are no kids running around wild, staining the furniture. I envy her. Liz chuckled and looked around. I wonder where those two have gotten off to.

Kitty and Sebastian, the two in question, were actually out back admiring Kitty's new purchase. A beautiful mare she'd christened Morgana le Fay. Isn't she lovely? Sebastian smiled. She's definitely a great looking horse, Miss Harris. Kitty scoffed. How many times have I told you, Mr. Devereaux, it's Kitty. You don't have to be so formal. At least when Liz isn't around. Or don't you want me to call you Sebby? She giggled. Oh I forgot, Sebastian.

Sebastian blushed as he smiled at the back of Kitty's head. There was something about her that didn't quite fit within this surreal world in which he found himself. The rest of Guilford, Surrey was trapped in a time warp but Kitty was modern, forward thinking and downright scandalous and Sebastian found that he liked it very much. If only he didn't feel so awkward when in her presence. Fortunately, Kitty didn't seem at all bothered by his stunted social skills. Every word he managed not to muck up was like music to her ears.

Hey Bo, he's smiling at me, ain't he? Yup Oh yes, I still got it You think so? Hells to the yeah! He's half in love with me already. Those feelings are returned, I hope. I'm quite fond of our little Sebby. Wouldn't want to see him hurt. Of course! Why else would I get all dolled up in this uncomfortable ensemble if not for him? Seriously, whalebone as under wire? Had to be designed by a man.

Such a nice yard. Sebastian cast about for a less blush worthy subject. You don't find such wide open green spaces around anymore. Not where I'm from. Kitty agreed. She watched as her paramour indulged in the clean country air. He really was too handsome for words. I could get used to living here. Sebastian sighed. We're only missing a bench. Who needs a bench? Lets pop a squat.

Kitty sprawled out on the grass. See? Bench unnecessary. Sebastian smirked. If Liz sees you sitting like that, in a dress, she might just have an aneurysm Kitty laughed. She is a bit uptight, isn't she? She wasn't always like that. I think the kids have done her in. Then again, she does have a lot to deal with these days. Maybe we're being a little harsh. Harsh or not, better to play it safe than be sorry. Sebastian reached out a hand. Come on, up you get.

Oh, wont you join me? Kitty lay back and sighed dreamily. The sky looks ever more impressive from down here. So blue and vast. Come on and check out the view. Sebastian gulped guiltily. He was certainly checking out the view... just not the one Kitty had in mind. I'm pretty sure Liz said she'd be by sometime today. Something about Hannah's having to leave us. So... Oh alright. Wouldn't want to incur her wrath. Help me up.

Having taken Sebastian's hand, Kitty was pleasantly surprised when he placed a hesitant kiss on her hand. Well aren't you the gentleman. She teased in good nature. Such pretty gloves, how could I resist? He joked. In all seriousness, I feel an odd... attachment to you. I mean, we just met a little while ago yet, It's like I've known you for a lifetime. Sebastian gave her an adorably helpless look. Is that strange? Only in the sweetest way possible. Kitty smiled happily. I know exactly how you feel.

Just then Liz and Cee came around the front of the house. There they are. Liz huffed in exasperation. It's always the last place you look... They seem cozy. Cee said with a smirk. That they do. Liz gazed at the tableau in deep thought.

After several seconds of silence... Liz? Is anything the matter? They really are cute together, aren't they? Cee glanced over at the couple and smiled. They definitely seem well suited. Liz nodded in awe. Yeah, they do.

Though she hated to break them up, Liz finally called out. Good Afternoon. Sebastian headed over with a welcoming smile. Mrs. Denbow. How are you today? Wonderful, as always. I'd like the two of you to meet Miss Cee Charris, your new companion. Kitty, though disappointed by the interruption, pasted a smile on her face and walked over to meet her roommate.

Pleasure to meet you Miss Charris. And you. But please, call me Cee. Will do. My Simselves, Kitty and Liz, greeted one another warmly. Much to my satisfaction. (seems they've forgiven me for throwing them into the legacy together. and because of the rebuild, I didn't even have to face my punishment. for those out of the loop, read chapter 1.7 where they threatened me with the ottomas family. *shudder*)

After the introductions... Mr. Devereaux, would you be a dear and help Cee get settled inside? I'm sure after that long train ride she's dying to change out of those traveling clothes and perhaps have a nice soak. Cee sighed. Sounds heavenly, actually. No problem. Sebastian nodded. Will you be staying for tea or anything? Tea would be great. You're such a luv. Well, I do try.

Well, Kitty spoke after a moment. That was tactful. You could have just said you wanted to talk to me alone, ya know. I didn't want to be rude. Besides, poor Cee looked like she could sleep on her feet. True. Kitty nodded. She seems nice. Yeah, I think you'll like her just fine. I'm sure I will. A moment's pause. So... So? Kitty rolled her eyes. So what did you wanna talk to me about? Duh.

Liz chuckled. Right. I've been meaning to ask about you and Sebastian. Ya know, how things are between the two of you. Oh, Kitty smirked. Looking for gossip or just trying to live vicariously through me? Just dish. Things are great. He seems to like it here and I love being with him. He's so goofy and sweet. Well we always did have a thing for the awkward, shy guys with glasses. Sebby's not shy. He just stumbles over his words sometimes. Besides, your husband doesn't really fit the geeky profile. What happened there?

Trust me, Justin may look like a hawt frat boy but he's goofy enough to grant us a lifetime of happiness. Anyway, that's so off the point. We're talking about you. True, and like I said, Sebby and I are coming along great. But there is something I wanted to talk about. A favor I wanted to ask you. A Favor? Liz inwardly cringed. What kind of favor? I want you to bring Mary here to live. In Guilford. Mary? Mary who? Silence. You mean your daughter Mary?

The very same. Are you MAD?! You know we can't talk about her or Miles... I know, I know! Kitty interrupted. It's just... I know she's unhappy. I can sense it. And ever since I began feeling that, I've felt I should do something. She's my daughter. I want her to be happy. So you want me to bring her here? You must be crazy! Actually I'm not. She needn't know who Sebby and I are. We don't even have to meet. Just as long as she's settled, safe and content. She deserves that. Even if she is kinda irritating.

I don't know. Come on. I've been good haven't I? On my best behavior. I've even kept my hands off Sebastian. Kitty made soulful cow eyes. I'd never let your cover slip. I just can't stand knowing she's miserable. Liz sighed. What about Miles? Oh he's fine. He and Amelia are happy as can be. I'd never wanna interfere with that. Just... Mary. Come on, Kitty pleaded. From one mom to another. Do me a solid. I'll owe you big time.

I guess I could look into it. But I'm not promising anything. Mary isn't mine... or yours...technically. It's complicated. As long as you consider it, I'll shut my mouth about it. I will. Thank you! (mary and miles are the children of kitty and sebby in the devereaux legacy written by peasant007, over at the boolprop forums. go read it!)

Your welcome. Now in case you've forgotten, I've still got a legacy to report. Right. Do you think a recap is in order? Liz shrugged. A small one couldn't hurt. How's this? Asher proposed to Olivia then went off to travel; Abby and Barrington heart fart everyone but each other; Lora hooked up with mildly retarded yet loaded Roger Davies; Annie bagged herself a vampire; Alice practically forced Timothy Buckley to propose to her; and Trace chose to honor his father's wishes by asking for Sally Jenkins' hand, all the while breaking the heart of his secret lover James. Who in turn threw a huge bitch fit at Trace's graduation party.

How was that for a small recap? Liz sighed. You just love shock value, don't you? Come on, ol' lady. I bet Sebby has your tea ready by now. (I apologize ahead of time for the incontinuity of the pictures coming along. some were taken before the rebuild of 2009 and before the new lighting and camera mods while the other half were obviously taken after)

Back at the legacy homestead, on the eve of Abigail's nuptials, Evelyn and Stuart were experiencing something of a full house once again. Both Abby and Lora were home and even Asher had taken a break from his travels in North America.

Alice too was home from school, with news of her engagement, much to her mother's delight. Oh Alice dear, you look absolutely lovely. What a fetching color on you.

Thank you Mama. I wore it just for you. How very sweet my child. I can not express how much I appreciate it. Though I can't help but wonder what has brought on such a change. Well Mama, we all must grow up sometime. Even me.

Meanwhile, Abby's intended, Barrington Finch, had been setting up house for his new bride. His grandfather had added to their family fortune by investing in sugar cane. All of Barrington's childhood he'd heard tales of his grandfather's beloved plantation in the states across the Atlantic. Finally, missing his home on the Southern Santee, Grandfather Finch built a miniature replica of his plantation house. And on his death he left said home to his favorite grandchild Barrington.

Barrington of course was pleased with his good fortune. He now had room for a Broadwood grand piano, perfectly tuned, on which to bang away his symphonies. And he finally was able to purchase the talking exotic bird he'd been wanting ever since he'd gone away to school. He named it Canon... in D. (happy now? he's been spamming me with bird wants for as long as I've known him. enjoy it since you ain't getting those 20 puppies or kittens)

Abigail arrived with a decent dowry of 7,922 pounds. Needless to say, she and Barrington were thrilled to see one another.

The entire family was present of course. As well as Mr. Raymond McFerren and Mr. James Prescott. The latter made Trace wholly uncomfortable while the former considered taking another shot at Alice. Despite her shooting him down once before.

It was a lovely wedding. One would be hard pressed to find another couple so made for one another. Abby wore a dress tailored from the very fabric of her mother's wedding gown. There was hardly a dry eye in the crowd when the couple finalized their I dos.

And immediately after, in true Barrington and Abby fashion, the couple heart farted some of their guests. Barrington of course fantasized about his new sister-in-law, while Abby was daydreaming about bad boy McFerren. (honestly you two! at least attempt to be subtle)

Speaking of Mr. McFerren, he seemed to cause a bit of contention between former lovers, Trace and James. Whether James was considering Raymond as a serious prospect or just an act of revenge, I'll never know. But Trace was clearly disgusted by the attraction. Though neither should have bothered since Raymond was busy eyeing the mother of the bride. (told ya evelyn was a m.i.l.f)

But somewhere in between the horde of inappropriate and scandalous thoughts, there was the joining of two souls. Abby and Barrington were beginning their lives together and were pleased as peddlers with a sack of pennies

Afterward, when all the guests were gone and the couple were finally alone, Barrington asked his wife what she thought of her new home. Oh it's beautiful Barr. I still can not believe that I'm to be Mistress of my own home. It feels as though I've been preparing for it the whole of my life. I so wish to please you. You do, trust me. Your very presence pleases me. Don't worry yourself dearest. I have every faith in your ability to run an efficient household.

(so sweet... then the phone rang and you'll never guess who it was) I'm sorry, who did you say is calling? Mr. Amar Acuma? (dun dun DUN!!! remember abby's shopboy crush? lmao) No, I'm unfamiliar with that name. You're looking for Abby? What on earth would you want with my wife, kind sir? (needless to say, the rest of this conversation was just beyond awkward)

Silence... and then Well my luv, would you care to explain?

Fortunately, our Barrington is a reasonable man and was willing to sweep the subject of Amar under the proverbial rug. The rest of their wedding night went smoothly.

The couple spent the next couple of months learning to live together pleasantly. Abby took great joy in redecorating the dreary house to her own tastes. Soon after she'd finished the nursery, all that quality time paid off as Abby realized she was expecting.

Barrington was pleased at the proof of his virility. Though unlike many young men, he didn't care whether his wife bore him many sons. Children were children and all were precious in his eyes. He only hoped his child would be blessed with good health and that his wife made it through her time of confinement in one piece.

Abigail, on the other hand turned her mind towards preparations. As in everything, she saw childbirth and motherhood as another task she must complete. And complete well. What good was she if she couldn't provide her husband with a handful of strong sons to carry on his name?

Moving onto Lora and Roger. Mr. Davies had little care for sentiment and went for practicality instead. While he would have preferred to live in Simdon, he understood Lora's wish to raise her children in the country. So he purchased his wife a modern townhouse. Four floors of high class living. All of which awaited Lora's redecorating.

The day of the wedding dawned cheery and pleasant. The ceremony was held in the second floor drawing room. In which Lora took great delight in telling all who would listen of her great redecorating plans. You simply must come and see it when I've finished. I've such great plans! (see, told you they were great) Somewhere in there she did manage to get married.

Almost immediately after the vows, Lora once again experienced that vague feeling of regret. As though all the fun in her life was now over. But as always, she quickly cast aside such worry and dove right into enjoying her wedding celebration. There was no point in looking as lovely as she did and being miserable.

I know he did not just tell Papa that he doesn't care for fish. How tactless. I think I've lost my appetite! Evelyn, though she'd had her initial doubts, could no longer ignore the fact that Lora and Roger, in their own queer way, were a perfect match. Certainly a couple of their times. No one would ever accuse them of being progressive. But she supposed no one would ever be able to call them discontent either.

It was a rousing celebration, a good time had by all. Both Lora and Roger were certain that their wedding would make the high society pages of Guilford with no trouble at all. It pleased them that they'd shown their guests such a wonderful time.

Afterward, Roger placated his bride by listening to her more detailed plans for the very drawing room they were dancing in. There is a French designer who is all the rage. Antoinne. His work is incomparable I'm certain he doesn't come cheap. But of course not darling. I only want the best for our home. I'm thinking of donning this room in blue and gold. As you wish dearest.

As a surprise for his bride, Roger had already made sure the Master bedroom was fully redecorated. In the color blue of course. Lora was ecstatic. It's absolutely sumptuous! I feel like royalty. I can only hope our honeymoon suite is half as delightful. Well, I suppose we could always stay here and keep to our rooms for a month. Mr. Davies, don't tease me so. Now where is our honeymoon taking place? Versailles or a cruise? Seeing as I suffer from seasickness, it will have to be France.

Eventually, after the honeymoon in Versailles of course, Lora had succeeded in redecorating the whole house. And her drawing room was, as promised, gold and blue. And as it tends to happen, she also found herself with child. Pleased though she was to give Roger the first of many sons, being pregnant did not agree with Lora's delicate constitution.

Moving forward brings us to Trace. Dear, dear Trace. Trace was able to call in a few favors with some school connections and managed to lease for himself this lovely stately Mansard. It's central Guilford location was ideal for a young man moving up in the world. Ready to begin his new life, Trace found he was only missing one thing: his bride. There was still some doubt whether Sally would continue with their engagement. After the shameful exhibition at his graduation celebration, Trace would not have blamed her for walking away.

So of course it was with great surprise (and relief) that Trace greeted his fiance when she showed up at his home unexpected. It seemed that despite his preference for men, Trace was able to appreciate the charms of the fairer sex. At least he appreciated Sally's charms. Then again, perhaps he was simply so grateful to see her that he momentarily forgot himself entirely.

Sally was understandably confused by such a greeting. She never thought Trace the sort to toy with a young woman's affections. She decided to see it as a positive sign of their life together. Trace of course did his best to assure her of his genuine gratitude and once again apologized profusely for whatever slander she may have experienced on his behalf. His only wish was to make it right. Sally, despite her reservations, agreed to go forth with their wedding plans. She did have warm regard for Trace and could possibly love him. Even knowing that he might be happier to lie with her brother.

The day of the wedding dawned clear and Trace was going over a list of everything that could possibly go wrong. Just his luck, Murphy's law struck and number 1 on his list happened to be waiting for him on his front porch. James! I can not believe you're actually going through with this. Trace looked around frantically and saw the first of his guests arriving. You can't be here! If we must have this out, I'll meet you somewhere later. But please, Sally does not deserve this embarrassment on such a day.

Good morning Trace! Seeing his sisters' approach, Trace forced a smile. Lora, Abby. You both look beautiful. Please head inside and make yourselves comfortable. I'll be with you shortly. Turning to James he desperately whispered. I beg of you. Please leave without making a scene. James watched sadly as Trace greeted his sister Alice. This was really happening. His love was lost. And there was nothing to do but leave with the last shreds of his dignity intact. (alice's thought bubble should read; is this the nutlog who went bullistic at your grad party?)

The ceremony, which took place in the parlor, was simple and pleasant. Trace dutifully said his vows and Sally wondered if he would ever look at her with more than fondness.

The reception that followed continued in the same simple yet pleasant vein. If not being somewhat subdued. There was an odd awkwardness in the air. Everyone spoke softly as though attending a wake and not a matrimonial celebration. Aside from the required congratulatory comments, Trace's family and guests kept to small groups with shared pockets of discussion. It was as though there was some unspoken agreement that this union was not exactly something to be celebrated.

For example: Asher and Annie, clearly frustrated with the silent tension, slipped outside for an impromptu pillow fight. Afterward, Asher and Miss Sarah Ormley spent some time catching up and laughing about the fun they had in school. (remember miss ornery sarah ormley? she and trace's attempts at dating were painful to watch, let alone play. boy did she dodge a bullet)

Newlyweds Lora and Roger found an unoccupied bathroom in which to reaquaint their lips. Meanwhile, Raymond McFerren and Alice calmly debated the reasons why this wedding was so very uncomfortable for everyone involved.

Still, for all the unspoken issues, the party passed without incident. There was cake, dancing, many a toast and well wishes for the new Mr. and Mrs. Trace Norrington. And just to end the day, James stole the newspaper. Thanks jilted lover.

Mrs. Trace Norrington nee Sally Jenkins' came into the family with a dowry of a mere 952 pounds. The youngest daughter of a poor merchant could hardly expect more. Is it any wonder she was willing to enter into a loveless, and perhaps hopeless marriage? Sally's stats: Knowledge Pisces 5 sloppy, 3 shy, 7 active, 3 serious, 7 nice ons; red+brown hair. Off; glasses

For propriety's sake, we shall skip the awkward consummation. Though I can guarantee that it did occur. Out of necessity of course. Life in the stately Mansard fell into a predictable pattern. Trace threw himself into work, always pleased to have something purposeful to do. From sunrise to far passed sunset, he could either be found at work or in his office, plugging away at making certain his future family would be financially secure.

Needless to say, this left the Missus to her own devices on a daily basis. It didn't take Sally very long to adjust to eating her dinner for two, alone. She filled her hours with keeping house and making proper visits to those influential families that might aid in her husband's career.

They lived pleasant but separate lives. Trace convinced himself that Sally required nothing more from him than his kind regard and support. Sally in turn told herself that she should be content with her secure situation. She had a home, a respectable place in society and most important, protection.

Suddenly the entire reason for their marriage of convenience made it's first appearance. Thus causing the couple to come tumbling out of their bubble of denial and back into the reality of their lives. Yes, Sally was with child. Trace predictably expressed his appreciation of her achievement and gently pecked her cheek in thanks for her fertility. Then he politely excused himself from the room so he could privately have a heart attack.

Long after the oil lamps had been put out, and the candles burned down, Trace found himself wandering the halls of his home in a drunk stupor. He was going to be a father. He absently wondered what James was doing at that moment. He admitted that he missed the young man's laugh. Trace suddenly realized that he's never thought past his decision to honor his father's wishes. Now he was married to a wonderful girl who inspired nothing but genial indifference in him, who also would be birthing him a child within the year. What do I do now?

Not long after that, Alice left home to marry Mr. Timothy Buckley. Theirs was quite an informal engagement. Lasting only a couple of months really. Timothy was the son of a British Marine and a Japanese seamstress. His father fell in love with his mother and her country, breaking convention by marrying her against his family's wishes. Many happy years were spent in Japan until Timothy's mother died. Afterward he and his father moved back to Britain where Timothy was schooled properly. No wonder he fell for such an unconventional girl as Alice.

Not too long before the guests arrived, Alice found herself suffering from the inappropriate church giggles. She couldn't believe she was all dolled up getting ready to get hitched. But she didn't let the shock paralyze her for long. A popularity sim like Alice was too thrilled with the prospect of a party to be distracted by such little things as major life altering decisions. (my simself liz's son tristan even showed up to watch his old friend get married off. apparently he forgave her for all the fast balls to the face)

Evelyn took this opportunity to have a few serious words with her second son. Trace my dear, I have been hearing some worrisome whispers about you and Sally. There's talk that you rarely spare a moment of your time in her company. Now I understand your ambition and of course I admire your drive to make a better life for your family... But please remember darling; family connections are not to be cast aside so lightly. Your father may have been a financially poor man, but he has always been richly abundant with love. And that is the key to happiness. Now if you will excuse me dearest, I must search out the loo.

It was a quiet ceremony, and yet all the more poignant for it's simplicity. It was more than nice to see Alice so genuinely happy. Seemed she'd found something (other than dancing) that brought a true smile to her face. Little Tristan Denbow, her childhood playmate, watched on with a content yet slightly confused look on his face. His mother had explained that he wouldn't grow up as quickly as his 'Legacy' friends and he suddenly felt as though his entire life would be spent watching moments such as these. It was daunting.

Yes Stuart. I know what you're thinking: Four down, two more to go. Can't tell you how wonderful it was to finally see positive Alice thought bubbles. That's right darling, bask in the glow of admiration. It's your day luv.

Tristan says: Eeww. Roger gives him a knowing grin. It tastes better than it looks my boy. Double eeww. Roger, he's six. That's too much information.

Stuart gives his new son-in-law advice on the art of cake-face smashing. Now, it is not quite as simple as it looks. You can not just shove it in there without some forethought. You want to carefully measure the ratio of size from cake to mouth. Line up your sights, steady your footing, parry, parry and then... thrust! Well done my boy! That was brilliant.

Mr. Eric Swinstead, Alice's former beau (the one who was caught breaking and entering in order to peak at her under garments), mistook Abigail for a young lady who had crossed him at some point. Oh foolish man. Abby might be the very definition of a 'good girl' but she's still a Norrington under the sweet exterior. Eric's folly led him to making a new enemy. Back. Away. Slowly.

Asher witnessed Lora and Raymond continuing their standing flirtation. Nothing past the bounds of propriety of course. Just a dance of smiles and coy innuendo to commemorate their past indiscretion (though it barely warrants the name). Worry not Asher. Raymond can't help being 'the man'. Besides, Lora is devoted to Mr. Davies. There's no chance of scandal, I assure you. (at least I hope so)

The party ended on a high note (roof raiser even without the smustle. who woulda thunk it). Which was a wonderful parting gift for our new popularity couple. Tristan imparts a bit of advice to the groom before heading home. Don't play catch with her man.

The newlyweds congratulated themselves for a party well thrown in their own... unusual way. Hey, whatever floats one's boat.

Meanwhile Trace, who had been especially quiet all day (at least more quiet than usual), stayed behind to speak with his younger sister. Trace, is there something the matter? You're looking quite forlorn. Trace smiled weakly. Nothing to trouble yourself with. I just wanted to say that you look beautiful today. Very happy. I'm... pleased to see it. Oh, Alice grinned. Thank you brother.

What did he have to say? He only wanted to wish us a very blessed future. Trace has never been comfortable with public displays of emotion. I can certainly relate to that. Tim nodded. Though I am perfectly capable of making exceptions on occasions such as today. Alice chuckled in his arms. You do realize that you are absolutely soaking. You'll ruin my dress. Is that so? Tim pulled his bride closer. And just what should we do with our ruined clothing?

Alice grinned lasciviously. I believe I can think something. Timothy Kiyoshi Buckley: Popularity, Libra 4 sloppy, 8 outgoing, 1 lazy, 7 playful, 5 nice ons: glasses+creativity offs: gray hair At first glance he appeared to be a pauper. What with only 49 pounds in his money purse. But then I saw his bank account (inventory). Timothy was worth over 20,000 pounds! Well done Alice! (by the way, kiyoshi means 'quiet one' in japanese)

Needless to say their wedding night was more than enjoyable. I imagine Timothy privately enjoys those moments when Alice displays her vulnerability. I'm also positive she's put her trust in the right hands.

Back at legacy main, Asher had finally returned home from his travels. For good this time. Also, Annie was home from school. Plans were immediately put in place for Asher and Olivia's wedding. Evelyn especially wanted everything to be perfect for her son. It had been quite some time since they had hosted such a gathering in their home. While his mother was occupied with that, Asher decided to have the house refinished for his parents. Perhaps it was a gift to his wife-to-be as well.

Due to the multiple distractions, no one noticed when Annie grew secretive. There was no one to see when she was writing a most important letter once everyone else was in bed.

And of course there was no one to question why she was repacking the school truck she had just emptied days earlier.

More to the point, there was no one there to stop her when she climbed into a carriage and was carried away into the night.

By the time Annie had arrived at her destination, it had begun to rain. Pulling on her shawl and hat, Annie stepped out of the carriage. The great house before her was quite foreboding. Even the front gate seemed to say 'stay away'. But Annie simply swallowed and bravely went forth.

Inside the gate Annie could see immaculately kept gardens through the gloom of night. There was a pond and a fountain too. All of which she would have loved to gaze at in the sunlight.

The great door was answered by the housekeeper (if her uniform was anything to go by) Can I help you ma'am? Annie was taken aback by the thick American accent. Oh, yes. Miss Annie Norrington calling on your master. Oh right. The woman nodded reluctantly. Well come on in out of the rain. You'll catch your death out there.

I'm Martha Benny Seymour. I prefer Martha Benny an' none of that Mizz Seymour nonsense. I'll take yer things and you can wait over there by the fire. Warm up an' all. Annie glanced around. Thank you... Martha Benny. Martha nodded. The Mas'a will be down shortly. He's been expectin' you.

I'm pleased to see you've arrived safely. Annie beamed up at her paramour. Nicolas! Yes, our Annie had decided to fore go all the formality surrounding a wedding to elope with her dark prince.

The couple were clearly pleased to see one another after their short separation. I despaired you would not accept my summons. I am certain I will not endear myself to your parents asking such a thing of you. Annie kissed him. You've already received my father's permission to have me. What care have I for how we go about it? I am with you and that's all that matters.

So there in the quiet front hall of Count Nicolas' manor, Annie became the Countess Clifford. Mistress of The Chateau de Renata. Count Nicolas Clifford: Pleasure, Pisces 5 neat, 4 shy, 6 active, 3 serious, 7 nice ons: black hair+formal wear off: makeup Lifetime want: 50 dream dates

Seeing as Nicolas had only awaken less than an hour before, they settled down for a delectable dinner prepared by Martha Benny. Afterwards Nicolas led his bride up to the master suite that he'd had prepared especially for her. Annie though, was too preoccupied with gazing at her love so scantily clad to care for the splendor which surrounded them both.

Nicolas, Annie took a moment to sate her curiosity. Are you hoping for a very large family? I can't help but wonder at your expectations. I worry I might not meet them. Oh Annie, Nicolas smiled sadly. I've no expectations. My only want is to have you here by my side.

Annie snuggled closer. But surely you desire a son. I thought all men wanted a son. Nicolas sighed. I had a son... once. And a wife. Before I was cursed with this affliction. You were married?! It was long ago. And it has absolutely no bearing on how I feel for you. He was quick to assure her. I was young and foolish. And like most men, ranked having a son above the life of my wife.

Did she die? Annie asked in a whisper. Nicolas nodded sadly. Eventually. Birth weakened her heart. And the boy did not live past the season. Shortly after, I was cursed and had no reason to believe I would be able to sire another child. I chose to live my life alone as penance. Until me. Until you.

So I am afraid there may not be any children in our future. And even if there was a chance I could possibly reproduce, I could not bring myself to choose the life of an unborn child over you, my love. Have I disappointed you? Do you now regret giving your life to me?

I'd take that as a 'no'

(there were too many hawt pictures of annie and her count so I created a mini montage because I couldn't decide on my favorite. by the way, they did this all night. if these two keep jumping into bed with one another autonomously, they'll quickly become my favorite couple. yum.)

Of course, come daylight, Nicolas was forced to bid his love adieu as he climbed back into his coffin. Annie slept in for several hours and then had to find things to occupy her time. She invited Martha Benny to dine with her instead of having her retreat to the servants' dining room. But she found the abrasive housekeeper's company lacking in social graces.

She explored the great house...

...and the extensive grounds, despite there being a chilly bite in the air.

She finally dozed off in the east garden, listening to the rush of water from the pond's miniature waterfall.

And when Nicolas awoke at sunset, he was tickled to find his love waiting for him under the moonlight.

After much planning and only a few mishaps, the day arrived. Asher was to be married. You look mighty sharp my boy. Asher smiled. Thank you Papa. I suppose even I'm capable of cleaning up quite nicely. Nervous? Me? Never. Though I wish Annie were here. It's a shame we haven't heard from her in so long. I know it is still worrying Mama. Stuart nodded. Yes well, Annie is old enough to make her own decisions. Today we keep our minds on brighter things.

It was Evelyn who had found the letter early that morning two months before. And though she knew that her child would be happy and that this was the way of life, she couldn't help feeling just slightly heartbroken. Had it been so long ago they had all been just small children holding her hands and learning to walk?

But as Stuart so wisely said, it was a day of new beginnings and only happy thoughts would suffice. Asher was taking his father's advice by happily greeting his fiance. I'm pleased to see you haven't run away to the continent. Olivia laughed lightly. I must say I was tempted. But seeing you in all your finery has convinced me that I made a wise choice in staying.

Once inside, Evelyn helped her new daughter-in-law get ready. Olivia had chosen to wear her mother's wedding dress. It had been fashioned after Queen Victoria's own wedding gown. You look absolutely lovely dear. Olivia blushed. You think Asher will like it? I'm certain that even if he can't remember exactly what you're wearing, he'll never forget how beautiful you look.

Outside, the guests began arriving. Both Abby and Sally were heavily pregnant. For propriety's sake, they should have already entered their confinement, but neither wished to miss Asher's long awaited nuptials. Both Evelyn and Alice were pleased to see that Asher's best friend Raymond had made it back in time from his tour of the continent. Raymond in turn just hoped he might meet someone single.

While Evelyn wondered just how much dosh both Lora and Roger's dress robes cost, Annie surprised all by showing up and slipping in quietly at the back. Trace was forced to awkwardly explain the uncomfortable (and somewhat unwelcome) presence of James Prescott (sitting right in front of he and sally). James had also been a friend of Asher's and a member of their esteemed brotherhood in school.

Asher finally came down the aisle looking as dashing as ever. Nothing pleased him more than to look out and see the expectant faces of all those he cared about. The irony that he, the oldest, was getting married last was not lost on him. Then all other thoughts fled as his bride came to join him under the arch. She was beautiful and Asher's heart flipped at the thought of adding her to his family.

One would think that after 5 siblings and 5 weddings before, this one would feel anti-climatic. But Asher and Olivia's vows rang true. As the two spoke their heartfelt promises, something intangible slipped into place. A peaceful sigh of fulfillment (or relief; take your pick) whistled through the trees. Whether it was the sound of a lifetime want being at last fulfilled, or an unseen force muttering Finally! over her keyboard, is up for interpretation. It was significant, regardless.

Welcome, Olivia Norrington nee Gordan. Cancer, Family 6 neat, 3 shy, 4 lazy, 5 playful, 7 nice ons: fitness, black hair off: glasses Her greatest wish is to have a bunch of grandchildren running around her feet. Preferably 6. Dowry: 19,280 pounds! Holy rusted metal Batman! (due to the rebuild, I adjusted family funds down to a flat 20,000. which is what asher brought home from college. I reduced olivia's dowry to 5,000. hope that's fair)

Introducing the official start of generation two! Mr. And Mrs. Asher Norrington. Yay! While everyone else went up to congratulate the bride and bridegroom, James excused himself from the awkward affair. He'd managed to convince himself that he would feel nothing when seeing Trace again. Unfortunately, he had been mistaken. Nothing hurt more than seeing his ex love with his new wife, heavy with child.

Adventurous flirt extraodinaire, Raymond McFerren, turned his charms to whom he believed to be the only unmarried Norrington girl. He had made his fortune traveling and investing in various imports. Though he had no intention on settling down anytime soon, it didn't hurt to show himself off. And our exuberant Asher is a cake shover. Who woulda guessed at that?

Both Asher's parents relished that this day had arrived at last. Stuart finally felt at peace. He had come from almost nothing with the hope of starting his own history. Now he was a proud father of six, all married, with generations to come. He had made his mark and these children were his legacy. He could die a happy man. Evelyn thought back fondly on her own wedding, beneath that very tree. How the years had flown by.

While both Sally and Trace had smiles plastered on their faces, there was an unspoken tension between them. Sally couldn't help but envy how attentive Barrington was to his own pregnant wife. Fortunately she found a sympathetic ear in Abby. Both gleefully confessing all their pregnancy grievances.

She didn't notice her father-in-law having a private word with her absentee husband. Stuart didn't want to pry but he couldn't help expressing his concern over the distance between Trace and his wife. Considering Trace had married Sally all for Stuart's happiness, is it any wonder that he was in no mood to have such a conversation?

Roger happily told all and sundry about his search to find the perfect top hat. Seems he enjoyed shopping nearly as much as his wife. After Raymond regaled them with tales of his travels and adventures, Annie was forced to explain her unexpected elopement. Lora found it terribly scandalous and romantic. And is it me or does Raymond look slightly disappointed that his latest target is spoken for?

Soon the allure of Champagne brought everyone to the table in order to toast the new couple. May you enjoy many years of happiness and adventures together! Evelyn smiled lovingly. Let us not forget to wish them a great deal of fun. Barrington added teasingly. Happy tub pirating as well!

There goes Abigail, heart farting over someone else who isn't her husband. Also, it seems as though Trace is not as unaffected by James' presence as he'd like everyone to believe. Speaking of James, look who's crashing the party behind him. Little Miss Meredith Tarlton.* Look familiar? (also known as meadow thayer. sorry lil one. no underage boys here for you)

Sally also watched James, but with an entirely different emotion than her husband. She wondered what it was about him that Trace had loved. Wondered if she would ever be able to inspire such impassioned emotions in the normally stoic Trace Norrington.

Aside from these small emotional issues, the party was enjoyed by nearly everyone. There were more fun toasts given in the bride and bridegroom's honor, ...A bit of underage drinking (which didn't technically count since there weren't any laws against it. lucky for you miss tarlton)...

...Dancing... Abby, Sally, I don't think that sort of exercise is good for the babies. Just a thought.

...And great fun overall. With relatively little effort it was a roof raiser. Then again, when the guests are mostly family and close friends, it's to be expected. The newlyweds were so lost in one another that it fell upon Asher's parents to thank everyone for coming.

But seeing as the senior Norringtons were preoccupied with one another, baby sister Annie stepped in graciously. Besides, she was fully aware that she should stay behind and have a talk with her parents. Once they came back to their senses, they were going to expect an explanation from her.

Senses having returned, Stuart and Evelyn did sit their youngest child down for a talk. Evelyn was finding it quite difficult to believe that her new son-in-law suffered from a sun allergy. Stuart on the other hand was too lost in his own contentment to even be bothered. His dream had come true today and there were grandchildren on the way. How could anything be wrong after that? (stuart's new lifetime want is to have 6 grandchildren. easy, peasy, rice+cheezy)

And here I shall leave you gentle readers. When we next return to Guilford, we shall see where the adventure called life will carry our second generation.
