Recent humanitarian disasters like the tsunami in south east

Asia and the war in Darur boosted the need or the instant and

reliable supply o sae drinking water in mostly rural and remote

areas. In close collaboration with Dutch drinking water companies,

Norit Membrane Technology has developed a mobile water

purication unit, denominated Perector-E which ltrates and

disinects surace water, to provide consumable water. Its robust

design and plug-and-play operation makes the unit suitable or

a wide range o applications. The Perector-E has successully

been applied and is still in ull operation in Atjeh, Indonesia

(Tsunami emergency aid), Uganda reugee camp (MSF) and

Pakistan (Kashmir region).

System description The Perector-E is an excellent system or the treatment o any

polluted surace water. This compact built purication system

is designed to provide high quality potable water out o heavily

polluted surace water. Although not designed or desalination

it is the perect pre-treatment or RO. The Perector-E is ed by

a mobile generator and has a capacity o approx. 2000 litre per

hour net. The unit is based on membrane ltration; impurities

like bacteria are retained by an automatically backwashed lter,

ollowed by disinection through ultraviolet light.

• with permanent hydrophilic low-ouling ultraltration membranes
