Amtrak Lease
Amtrak portion is 1000 square feet out of a total 3500 square ft. station Includes ticket counter with room for two agents at peak (holiday) demand Includes supervisor office/ baggage claim area/ kitchenette and break room Space allows Amtrak for secured area for future credit card processing and
financial transactions and accounting Protected for future baggage checking with scale and roll–up door Lease term is 5 years Amtrak pays no monthly fees and cannot sublease Utilities, building maintenance, custodial, and recycling, vending
machine provided by City of Norfolk Amtrak will staff (spring 2014) pending lease approval and after their design
and installation of a Passenger Information Display System (PIDS)
Other station info: One “caretaker” customer service rep. under contract with Amtrak is present at
train arrivals and departures
Station security coverage will continue from 7:00PM to 7:00AM
Parking remains free for overnight Amtrak patrons
Taxi, Amtrak Thruway bus service, rental car, and hotel shuttle pick/up drop off service will still be similar to today
Public artist selected and themes and proposals to be reviewed next year (outside the station).
City use of station for offsite multi-purpose meeting space outside train hours.
